YouTube has signed a two-year partnership with The Earthshot Prize - the environmental charity founded in 2020 by Prince William of the UK.

The charity has the aim of discovering, accelerating and scaling ground-breaking solutions to repair and regenerate the planet. YouTube will work with the charity’s team to produce content to help drive action worldwide as well as helping to grow the organisation's own YouTube channel to increase its international impact.

The channel will host mini-documentaries and Q&As with the finalists of the prize, which will be announced in Singapore in November. Hannah Jones is the CEO of the prize and said in a press statement: “At The Earthshot Prize, we want to incentivise innovation and change to help repair our planet and partnering with YouTube, one of the world’s biggest platforms, allows us to do that on a truly global scale.”

Pedro Pina, Head of YouTube Europe, Middle East & Africa, added that the partnership reflected YouTube’s vision to become “...a leading destination for awareness, education, and action on the global climate crisis”. He added that it also reflected how much sustainability matters to its creator and viewer communities.
