Three Simple Ways To Be Happier Now

If you’re trying to figure out why you’re not as happy as you would love to be, it has to do with one or all of these things.

As human beings, we are wired to connect with others. Our lives are a result of our choices and interactions.


We are not meant to be alone all the time, to do things that we don’t enjoy, or spend our days hoping that the stars will align and we will magically be happier.


Maybe you’re one of those people who talk and talk about what you want to do with your one and only life. But when it comes to doing something about it, you freeze.


Or you’re hanging out with people that just don’t “get you” anymore.


Or you think you’ll be happy when you buy a new designer handbag or get a raise.


The reality is you can choose to be happy right now.


And even if you don’t feel happy right now, you can still DECIDE to start becoming happier now.


Moving forward is scary for a lot of people. I get it.


It can be unnerving to be honest with yourself, your life, and your decisions.


But one thing I know for a fact is that a happy, fulfilling life takes work.


It may not be easy, but it’s absolutely possible.


The key is to stay true to yourself, in a noisy world where you’re bombarded with other people’s opinions, social media, and the news.


In this article, I’m going to share with you how to be happier by learning how to trust yourself to be happy first.


We all have an internal compass, and following yours is always the best path to happiness.


Being honest with yourself even if it’s scary will raise your awareness of what is in your way, so that you can let it go and play a bigger game.


Here are three actions you can take right now to take the bull by the horns and feel happier:


1. Take responsibility for your life and your choices


If you’re someone who blames other people or wallows in your own pity party, I’m talking to you.


Everyone has a story, and your current circumstances do not mean anything about your future potential.


How you react and think about the events in your life determines how you feel and what you believe about yourself. That is what ultimately shapes your reality.


I always say, “It’s not the thing, it’s how you FEEL about the thing.”


Often I see women become committed to disempowering beliefs because they’ve made something a big deal that didn’t really need to be. We create drama. (Right?)


If you took a step back and asked yourself, “What are the facts? What if this wasn’t a big deal?”


Most of the time, you get a dose of reality and are able to make a grounded decision that will change your life for the better.


Those decisions lead to results that make you happier.


2. Tell Five People Something You Never Told Anyone About What You Really Want


We all have that person that we secretly want to be. That person who is always smiling does what they please, and doesn’t worry one minute about what anyone else thinks.


But you listen to your inner critic and convince yourself that it will never be you, “it’s just a dream.”


So you never talk about your dream to anyone else, and it stays bottled up deep inside of you.


To me, that’s a BIG problem.


Why?


Because what's really going on is that you are afraid of what someone else may think, how they would react, or not being supported.


My challenge for you is to tell five people about what you really want to do with your life. Not necessarily your family and friends, but people who will cheer you on.


This will make your dream real, increase your energy and excitement around it, and provide accountability for you to start taking action. It’s like having a coach in your back pocket!


Think about it life is really short, how do you want to describe yours?


You can choose awesome, happy, and fulfilled.


As Dr. Wayne Dyer said, “Don’t die with your music still inside you.”


Go out there and get it.


3. Be happy = Learn or Start Something


Your life is meant to be LIVED BOLDLY. We are here on this earth in the grand scheme of things for a nano-second, so you owe it to yourself to live it with all you’ve got.


That means not playing small and getting in the game.


A big part of being happy is creating, learning, or starting something that has meaning for you. It is the ability to express who you truly are as a person, and spending time with the people, activities, and things that bring you joy.


What are these things for you? How can you spend more time doing them?


Fuel your life and have more fun! Not only will you feel happier, but those around you will be happier too.


This is the perfect moment to find your reason to be happy now.


You deserve it.
