Thought costs us nothing but is priceless. It is a process that separates us from the animals and elevates us with reasoning capability. It allows us to solve problems, create art and music, and make informed decisions. Thought is the cause of any success or any failure we experience. It is powerful beyond measure but misunderstood by most.

Thought is the impetus that either expands your life and experiences or contracts that life into a prison of monotony, staying in the same rut year after year, hoping something will change. Thought can take you to new heights, or keep you mired in a doldrum existence. It is the single step that can lead to peace and presence of mind, or down a dark tunnel into an abyss of anxiety.

You see, our belief in something makes it true in our minds. We must first believe something to have it appear in our lives. A belief that you are going to become a successful entrepreneur or a belief that you will never be able to start your own business will bring those results into your life. Per the famous quote attributed to Henry Ford, “Whether you believe you can, or believe you cannot; you are right.” Yes, you will take action that brings either of them into existence, but without belief, neither will happen.

Our thoughts become our feelings, our feelings cause our actions, and our actions bring results into our lives. Whatever actions we put out into the world will return to us in an equal and opposite reaction, not necessarily at the same time, maybe some years later, but by universal law, it must occur. If you don’t like your current results, it starts with your thoughts. Change your thoughts, change your actions, change your results. You have complete and full control. Your thoughts start the cycle, they are extremely important, but most of us spend little time protecting or challenging them. We simply “accept.”

Thoughts are what define your self-image. “I am strong. I am secure, I am loved, I am loving”, are defining your world in which you live. Conversely, “I am weak, I am always a failure, I never measure up, I CAN’T…” are also true to defining your world. You see, you have a choice. It can either be a rich environment for you, or it can be a mess you can never seem to get away from. The choice is yours. Your life is yours, no one else’s.

Guard your thoughts, reject any thought that is opposite to the results you want in your life. Take 15 minutes (or more) every day to meditate. Meditate by imagining yourself in your desired state of control, success, freedom, and living full out. Repetition of this daily exercise will shift your thoughts, body and soul, and your being; to a new you. A new you that is in control and not beset with strife. You will control your future; it starts with your thoughts and what you believe to be true.
