The Becoming Lighter Virtual Kitchen Invites Women Back to the Heart of Nourishment

A monthly virtual gathering where women come together to foster community, bring life back into their kitchens, and reconnect with the rhythms of life. As wellness information becomes increasingly accessible, many women find themselves more disconnected than ever from the simple practices that create health, community, and nourishment.

Ariel Griglin, The Founder of Becoming Lighter, has spent more than two decades hearing women share their frustrations with food. She has begun hosting these quaint and intimate virtual experiences every last Friday of the month for women to complete the circle of what our earth provides and our ability to live a vibrant and healthy life.

Our post-COVID world has taken the convenience that most of us were born with and poured gasoline on it. The ability to tap a few times with your thumb and have groceries sitting at your doorstep has gutted our connection with what makes us human. We have become increasingly separated from where our food is sourced, and we are starved of the connection that comes from a simple exchange with the cashier.

During this renaissance-like time, many are looking within. They are becoming increasingly aware of life-long patterns that have limited them, much of which relates to the body and dieting. When Ariel received a gift from a client - healthy bread - she shared it with another client. She observed the glow and excitement over sharing something nutritious, and from that moment, the idea for The Becoming Lighter Kitchen was born.

It was the answer to community, to vibrancy, to curiosity around cooking, and the joy of abundant nourishment.

The first Becoming Lighter Kitchen was exactly as anticipated. Women gathered for a grounded evening to share stories and embark upon the process of fermentation. It led to an unexpected relationship with the soon-to-be sauerkraut that sits on participants’ countertops, producing a rich environment of probiotics.

“I’ve noticed my own relationship with the kitchen changes throughout different seasons of life. Sometimes it becomes a place of creativity and grounding. Other times, life moves quickly, and I find myself spending less time there. The Becoming Lighter Kitchen is an invitation to return, to nourishment, to community, and to ourselves.”
