Soar’s Story Is Your Story, Its Every Human’s Story

I am delighted to announce that we are getting ready to publish “Soar: A Soul’s Quest” this summer. The book is a mystical and inspirational fable that follows an eagle with anthropomorphic qualities. At the beginning of the story, Soar is forced to abandon everything that is familiar to him, and branch out into the unknown alone, on what becomes an epic journey of learning, discovery, and transformation.

Soar's journey acts as a metaphor for all human existence and builds on the themes of our first book: The Legendary Quest: For Professionals Seeking Inner and Outer Excellence and Authentic Fulfilment. You can read more about The Legendary Quest here.

The book highlights several critical issues and conflicts we collectively face! Soar experiences challenges with authority, hierarchy, cognitive rigidity, and lack of growth as well as xenophobia in his community. Soars journey highlights many conflicts (within and outside us) that we face and then provides an approach to resolve them. Soar’s journey highlights the importance of growth mindset, open-ness, willingness to accept alternative perspectives and seek wide and vivid life experiences to enrich oneself. Further, the journey highlights the importance of grit, resilience, continuous growth, acceptance, gratitude, and forgiveness. The journey challenges the reader to reflect and assess their own cognitive biases and presumptions!

Soar is primarily a tale of self-awareness, and as it involves an often trying and testing, but ultimately rewarding, journey. Our book deeply examines topics of spiritual and personal growth, love and loss, identity, and childhood development, and does so before a stunning backdrop of vivid physical descriptions that connects the reader with nature, while implicitly questioning whether we pay sufficient attention to this world that surrounds us.

Furthermore, it is considered nearly impossible that 3 authors can together create a novel! And that too across 3 countries. But we did it!

My co-author and friend Christopher Morris is a highly published author and ghostwriter, with over ten years of experience. His work has been featured in the mainstream media, including the New York Times, the Sunday Telegraph, the Financial Times, Forbes, Yahoo, Newsweek, and the Times Educational Supplement, and I have worked on many books, including several Amazon bestsellers, since concentrating on authorial work.

His interest in the themes and topics of this book has been greatly informed by his own life experience. It is his conviction that one person’s dream is another person’s nightmare, and that it is only by truly understanding ourselves that we can hope to avoid the latter and achieve the former. He is extremely fortunate in having crafted a lifestyle for himself which is creative, happy, peaceful, and harmonious, and truly give thanks for this every day.

My colleague, friend and co-author, Francis Yoo is a mid-career physician who, upon deep reflection, realized that becoming a doctor was never his childhood dream! He was always interested in video games and the journeys of the main characters, which made him curious about his own journey and what it means to be truly fulfilled. Consistently, since before h entered medical school and residency, he has been pursuing and exploring philosophy, psychology, and modern and ancient Eastern and Western wisdom, along with more well-known and esoteric resources, and has continued to do so ever since. He wanted to find a perspective that made sense to him and then use it to find authentic healing, wholeness, and fulfillment for himself and for others.

We three students of life met in 2019, and soon realized that we are all on similar quests for excellence! It also became evident that we have diverse, yet overlapping, backgrounds, life experiences and perspectives, that emanate from three different continents.

In working together, we envisioned creating a body of work that reflects our views and collective philosophy on life, which we believe is rarely reflected in the prevailing media and cultural messages that people tend to receive.

We believe that everyone has, in some form and capacity, a “Soar” within them. We aren’t expanding on this too greatly yet, as we hope that our story speaks for itself and resonates deeply with you. But one thing that has become abundantly clear to all of us, and that we hope this story acutely reflects, is that life is a journey, but the journey is as important as the destination, if not more important.

The story of Soar is, we believe, broadly applicable to human experience across the globe, regardless of all demographic and social factors. This story is for everyone, regardless of age, race, gender, or any other identifier. The story is equally applicable for, and to, any preferred pronoun.

Finally, we should say that we have also intended this book to be food for thought regarding the issue of how we, as humans, interact with the animal kingdom, and indeed what our place is within that wider ecosystem.

We hope you truly enjoy accompanying Soar on the journey.
