“I’ve always believed in doing things fully,” he says. “Whether it’s business or the arts, you commit to it and see it through.”

Early life and education in New Jersey

Robert Massimi was born and raised in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey. His early years were shaped by both academics and sports. He competed in soccer, hockey, baseball, and track. In hockey, he earned All-County, All-State, and All-American honors. He also set a school record for goals in soccer and held a middle school track record in the mile.

“Sports taught me discipline early,” he says. “You learn how to push yourself and stay focused.”

He attended St. Joseph’s High School and later went to Manhattan College. There, he pursued a triple major in English, Government, and Psychology, along with a minor in business. He wrote for the school newspaper and was recognized as the most outstanding student at graduation.

“I liked learning across different areas,” he says. “It gave me a broader way to think about problems.”

He later earned MBAs from NYU and Yale University.

How Robert Massimi started his career in transportation

Massimi began his career in his family’s transportation business. In 1987, he purchased B&B Transport. This was his first major step into leadership.

Running a transportation company gave him hands-on experience in operations and logistics. It also showed him how industries connect behind the scenes.

“You understand how things move,” he says. “Not just goods, but systems and decisions.”

He later worked in freight brokerage for many years. This kept him close to global trade and supply chains.

Transition to global advisory and RM Global Advisors

After decades in transportation and logistics, Massimi shifted into international advisory work. He now serves as CEO of RM Global Advisors. His work focuses on global strategy and business relationships. The move reflects a broader view of how industries operate across borders.

“At some point, you step back and look at the bigger picture,” he says. “You start connecting ideas instead of just managing one piece.”

This transition marks a shift from operations to strategy. It also shows how his earlier experience shaped his current role.

Producing 14 shows on and off Broadway

Alongside his business career, Massimi has stayed deeply involved in theater. He has produced 14 shows on and off Broadway. This work reflects a long-standing interest in the arts. It also shows his willingness to invest time and effort outside of business.

“Theater has always been important to me,” he says. “It’s where ideas come to life in a different way.”

Producing shows requires coordination, planning, and creative judgment. These are skills that also apply to business.

Work as a drama critic and industry contributor

Massimi is also active as a drama critic. He serves as Chief Drama Critic for Metropolitan Magazine, Nimbus Magazine, and My Life Publications. Through this work, he stays connected to the creative side of the industry. He is also a member of several arts organizations, including The Dramatists Guild and The National Arts Club.

“Writing about theater keeps you engaged,” he says. “You’re always thinking about what works and why.”

His involvement goes beyond writing. He has served on boards such as the Metropolitan Playhouse and Manhattan College.

Over the years, Massimi has served on multiple boards. These include St. Joseph Regional High School, Zion Lutheran Church, Wandell School, and Manhattan College. This work reflects a focus on education and community institutions. It also shows a consistent pattern of involvement outside his main career.

“I’ve always believed in being part of something larger,” he says. “You give your time where it matters.”

He also supports animal welfare organizations and arts groups.
