A reflection in young eyes

Imagine a room filled with familiar, loving faces—yours and those of the children you inspire to dream big and reach for the stars. The walls are covered with vibrant posters echoing this manifestation mantra. And then, those innocent curious eyes turned to you and asked, “Do you still dream big?” How would you respond? Would you begin to justify your 'reality'?

Let's pause and recognize that our children don’t just listen with their ears; they observe us with their wide, open eyes. What example are we setting? Can you honestly say, “Yes, I still believe in dreams”? If not, perhaps it's time to revisit your own shelved aspirations and set new goals for personal achievement.

Dreams vs. Reality: The adult paradigm

For many of us, adulthood has become synonymous with limitations. We're conditioned to value practicality over possibility, reality over dreams. Yet, what we often consider 'realistic' is merely a cautious compromise, shaped by our fears and past disappointments.

In contrast, our children see pure potential where we perceive barriers. They inhabit a world where dreams are untainted by the cynicism that too often accompanies adult life. We must ask ourselves: Why have we accepted a reality that dims the brilliant light of our dreams? This reflection is crucial for anyone committed to personal development and achieving significant life goals.

Sharing a personal journey of dreaming

Why do I hold dreaming so dear? Let me walk you through my path. From the start, dreaming was not just an idea for me; it was my life’s compass. At 19, I embarked on an adventure to a new country, which has since become my cherished home. My dreams then led me to New York City, where I immersed myself in the vibrant energy and worked with top-tier organizations, soaking in every bit of the iconic city life I had always envisioned. But life had more in store. My journey in the corporate world eventually carried me to Silicon Valley, and later, I chose to settle in sunny San Diego.

Now, as a mom, speaker, coach, and advocate for endless possibilities, I passionately embrace my latest dream. Has it all been perfect? Far from it. There have been numerous setbacks and fears, but my conviction that moving forward would lead to incredible outcomes has never waned. Often, reality has surpassed my dreams, unfolding in miraculous ways that seemed orchestrated by the universe. Trusting the journey has been essential—and it's what I continue to do, every step of the way.

Reviving dreams: A blueprint for adults

Here's how you can reignite your capacity to dream without bounds:

  • Rediscover What Excites You: Dive deep into your passions—those activities that quicken your pulse and spark your eyes. What captivated you before life insisted you get serious?

  • Create Emotional and Mental Connections to Your Dream: Start with a brief visualization practice. Engage with your dreams emotionally, allowing your brain to forge real neural pathways, a foundational step in manifesting your desires.

  • Break It Down: Dreaming big doesn’t mean abandoning practicality. Outline achievable steps that make your dreams more tangible. Each small victory on this path will rekindle your dreams and propel your journey towards them.

  • Cultivate a Supportive Circle: Surround yourself with mentors, coaches, and fellow dreamers—those who believe in you and refuse to acknowledge ceilings, for they're too busy gazing at the stars.

Join the dream movement

I invite you to join me in redefining what it means to dream big at any age. Start by sharing a photo of your or your child’s “Dream Big" poster, just as I have shared mine. Let’s collect these visuals not just as decorations, but as declarations of our commitment to living lives fueled by dreams. Send me your posters, and let’s ignite a movement that revives the true essence of dreaming big, at any age, together.
