Meta users across the globe will soon be able to create chatbots of themselves that mirror their interests and personality.

The AI Studio tool will be available for WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook Messenger users; but is initially being shared with Instagram Business account owners. It will allow them to create customised chatbots, which can help them manage their social media workload.

“Anyone can create their own AI designed to make you laugh, generate memes, give travel advice and so much more. Creators can also make an AI as an extension of themselves to answer common DM questions and story replies, helping them reach more people,” states the Meta team. And this, it adds, is with “no tech skills required”.

Meta states that users can only create an Ai version of themselves, but can customise even down to the topics that they want their chatbot to steer clear off. They can turn auto-responses on and off; but all in the knowledge that any AI responses will be clearly labelled as such.

In September, Meta launched a crowd of chatbots based loosely on celebrities including Kendell Jenner and Snoop Dogg; but these failed to spark interest. Meta shared that they have now been “retired” but a new group of chatbots has been created for this latest announcement including an AI character called Sammy The Stress Ball

Meta has promised that it will share its AI chatbot creation tool to the Metaverse; but timeframes on this; and when the rest of the world will get to make their digital doppelgängers has yet to be announced.
