Have you ever invested a lot of time and money in seminars or training programs to only get results that were very short of your expectations? It’s not you, your employees, or your company. It’s the Knowing/Doing Gap. Most organizations and individuals suffer from the Knowing/ Doing Gap.

We gather knowledge as we grow up. As we get older, we gather more knowledge. That’s what happens when you go to school or attend seminars or take part in a training program. We collect more knowledge. But we rarely use all of that knowledge or use what knowledge we already have, effectively. The more knowledge we get, the bigger the gap. The problem resides in our Paradigm.

If you haven’t heard of the word Paradigm before, that’s ok. Neither has the majority of people on the planet. If you have, you may not know how it relates to the mind. The Paradigm is a mental program with almost exclusive control over our behaviour. The Paradigm is a nest of habits that we’ve accumulated over the course of our lives, and a habit is an idea or group of ideas that are fixed in the subconscious mind. 96% to 98% of our behaviour is habitual.

Something else that has to be realized is that the body is an instrument of the mind. Whatever is thought about, consciously or unconsciously, is expressed by our bodies. Mind is movement, and the body is the physical expression of that movement.

A company is people. Take the people out of the company, and you have an empty building with lots of neat stuff in it doing nothing. Therefore, it stands to reason that because people are creatures of habit, a company has habits too. Put many people together in one place, and you have a mass habits. You have a culture. For a company to grow, the culture must change. To change the culture, you have to change the mass habit. You have to get the people to look at what they are or are not doing to help the company grow.

If you look at the fact that the people have a Knowing/Doing Gap, you can see that if you close that gap by getting people to do more with what they already know, your company will grow. But again, the Paradigm must change.
