Most of us watched at least one movie in which we saw how one decision can change the trajectory of our entire life.

In movies we often get to see the alternative scenario of “what if” - what if you would have taken a different decision?

Let's see how we can improve the decision making process in real life.

When entrepreneurs experience milestones in their business, they often try to track back the steps they took that lead to that success. Most of the time, their intention is to find the decision that changed it all.

What I’ve noticed with my clients it’s that it isn’t the decision itself that brings the quantum leap, but rather the energy behind the decision and the energy behind the actions that were taken.

For example, if you wake up and you move your body, you meditate for a few moments, then your favourite breakfast awaits for you, your partner cuddles you, you put your favourite perfume on, you open your Inbox and you have four new soul-aligned clients who said “yes” to working with you ‒ all of these actions and events, build up and create an energetic state of enthusiasm, certainty, optimism within you.

What business decisions will you make in that state?

Probably they will all be related to expansion, growth, investing in the company, in the team, in yourself. It’s through this inner energy state that you access that attitude of “ everything is possible” and “I can do it.”

The example I used is based on circumstantial power ‒ meaning that in favourable circumstances, you’ll naturally make the most empowered decisions.

However, in the long term, it is better to learn how you can create the right energetic state that supports you to make powerful decisions in any circumstance.

Here are some of the easiest ways of creating a balanced inner state that will help you make empowered decisions in your business:

1. Self-awareness. Become aware of your current inner state.

Ask yourself: “How do I feel right now?”. Observe your body: how does it feel now, that you desire to make this decision?

If your emotions are intense, then that’s not the best moment to make an important business decision, because you might choose a better option when you are calmer and grounded.

2. Breathwork. You can use breathwork to balance your nervous system: take five deep belly breaths. You can start by placing your right hand on your chest, your left hand on your belly and focus on your breath. Start with a long exhale, imagining you’re releasing the energy state you want to change and then inhale the energy state you desire. For example, you can breathe and vocalise at the same time: I exhale and release confusion. I inhale clarity and guidance.

3. Use visualisation. Envision the multiple outcomes and observe how your body feels in each scenario. It will become very clear which is the reality you desire to experience and how does your body feel while experiencing that reality.

If your body isn’t comfortable, yet you know deep down that you desire to experience that outcome, be gentle with yourself. Our brains are wired to protect us and that’s exactly what your body tries to do through the emotion of fear or any tightness you might experience.

4. To improve the sensations in your body you can use journaling as the easiest way of expressing your emotions. For each thought that creates worry and tension in the body, practise the exercise of finding the best alternative thought: “What is the first thought that can make me feel better right now? If I allow myself to believe this new thought, how would I feel then?”

Focus on the new thoughts for a few moments and then create more thoughts that feel both better and realistic.

5. Music and Sound can really help you successfully shift your inner energy within a few minutes. To balance the energy of your brain hemispheres you can listen to some EMDR music ‒ with quick online research you will find many options to choose from.

6. If you want to take it a step further, you can practice EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). This is a combination between ancient Chinese acupressure (without needles) and modern psychology. Using your fingertips you can tap on specific body points and vocalise any stress caused. EFT helps you turn off the stress response so you can access a state of clarity and confidence.

Powerful decisions are directly related to your inner energy state. Balancing your emotional state before important business decisions, will help you choose successful outcomes for your business growth. You will decide better when your mind has clarity, your body feels certainty and your soul is motivated.
