Alastair Duhs, Anger Expert

Introduce yourself! Please tell us a little about yourself and where you are from.

I was born and raised in Auckland, New Zealand. Growing up, I was fascinated by the way the world around me worked. For that reason, I studied physics at Auckland University and graduated with a Master's Degree in Quantum Physics in 1992. However, even though I found physics fascinating, I didn't want to work as a physicist. I soon learned that I was more interested in people than particles! So, I trained to be a counselor. Some of my earliest clients were people who were struggling to deal with their anger. Thirty years later, I'm still working as a counselor and anger management expert. Although I have helped more than 10,000 men and women control their anger and create calmer, happier, more loving relationships, I still get huge satisfaction from helping people transform their lives. What inspired you to specialize in anger management? I originally became interested in anger management because some of my earliest clients struggled to deal with their anger. I soon realised that many people don't know how to deal with their anger healthily. That's why I decided to specialise in anger management. I wanted to help people to control their anger and create calmer, happier, more loving relationships. Not only that, but the approach I use to help people control anger can also transform other areas of their lives ‒ such as their relationships, parenting, their work life, and so on. It is perhaps due to this that the anger management course I created, called The Complete Anger Management System, has been so successful. It has not only helped thousands of people control their anger and create calmer and happier lives, but it has also proven to be life-changing in many other areas of their lives. You mention that you have helped over 10,000 men and women control their anger. Can you share some of the most common issues people come to you for help with?

One of the most common issues people come to me for help with is managing their anger in relationships. Many people struggle to express their anger healthily for themselves or their relationships. As a result, their relationships often suffer. I have seen too many relationships needlessly destroyed by anger. This can be heartbreaking, especially when I know that the tools to control anger and create happier, healthier, and more loving relationships are simple to learn and work extremely quickly. What would you say is the most important thing to understand about anger? The most important thing to understand about anger is that other people or situations do not cause your anger. Instead, your thoughts and beliefs about those people's situations cause your anger. In other words, it is not what happens to you that makes you angry, but how you think about what happens to you. This is an important distinction to make because it means that you have the power to choose how to react to any given situation. You can't always control what happens to you in life, but you can always control how you react to it. And that is the key to managing your anger ‒ controlling your thoughts and beliefs about the people and situations in your life so that you can control your anger. You have created a course called The Complete Anger Management System. Can you tell us a little about what this course entails? The Complete Anger Management System is an online course that provides a step-by-step system for managing anger. It covers everything from understanding the root causes of anger to learning how to change your thoughts and beliefs about people and situations. The course also includes a range of practical tools and techniques for managing anger at the moment so that you can stay calm and in control even when things are getting tough. Plus, you will learn how to prevent anger from occurring in the first place. In short, The Complete Anger Management System will teach you everything you need to control your anger, create happier and healthier relationships, and transform other areas of your life.

Do you have any final words of wisdom for our readers who might be struggling with anger?

My advice for anyone struggling with anger is to seek help ‒ whether through a course like, The Complete Anger Management System, or through therapy or counseling.

The sooner you get help, the sooner you can start managing your anger and creating the life you want. And remember, you are not alone ‒ there is help available, and you can make the changes you need to create a happier, healthier life.
