Guiding Men To Rewrite Their Stories After Divorce – Interview With Michael T. Pedersen

I’m Michael Pedersen, a reinvention coach specializing in helping divorced men over 50 rebuild their lives with confidence, purpose, and strength. Over the past 30 years, I’ve worked closely with successful men, first as a private fitness trainer, then as a digital agency owner and business growth strategist, and now as a reinvention coach. This unique journey has given me a deep understanding of the challenges high-achieving men face when life throws unexpected setbacks, such as divorce.

My own transformation began after my divorce, which forced me to reexamine every aspect of my life. Through that process, I discovered powerful tools and strategies that have not only helped me rebuild but also served as the foundation for helping others do the same. My mission is to empower men to move beyond survival mode and create lives they are genuinely proud of.

Beyond coaching, I’m an author, fitness enthusiast, and someone who values growth and challenge. Whether it’s exploring the beauty of Bali, reflecting on my own journey, or pushing my limits at the gym, I’m constantly driven to live with intention and purpose. I believe that with the right mindset and strategies, it’s never too late to rewrite your story and become the man you’ve always wanted to be.

Michael T. Pedersen, Coach For Divorced Men Over 50

What led you to create man awakened?

I moved to Bali four months ago, looking for a fresh start and a chance to reset my life. After seven years of being divorced, I felt the need to step away from the familiar and create space for something new. Being in Bali gave me a sense of freedom and clarity I hadn’t experienced in years. The peaceful environment and slower pace inspired a surge of creativity, and in just five weeks, Man Awakened came to life. The book is my way of sharing what I’ve learned about rebuilding and rediscovering purpose, especially for divorced men over 50 who feel like they’ve lost their way.

Can you share a success story that highlights the impact of your work?

One client, a 55-year-old executive, came to me after feeling invisible and adrift post-divorce. He described his life as “existing but not living.” Through our work, he not only reclaimed his confidence but also started a passion project that reconnected him with his purpose. Today, he’s thriving physically, emotionally, and socially. He often says, “I didn’t just get my life back – I got a life I never imagined was possible.”

How does your approach help individuals reconnect with their authentic selves?

My approach is for men who are ready to stop drifting and start leading their lives with purpose. Reinvention transforms the core. Most men over 50 who come to me feel disconnected – not just from others but from themselves. Divorce, career changes, and the weight of life’s responsibilities often strip away their sense of identity.

I help men reconnect with their authentic selves through a no-nonsense, action-based process that prioritizes accountability and self-leadership. It starts with reclaiming confidence – not as a façade, but as a deeply rooted belief in their own value. We rediscover purpose by stripping away external expectations and focusing on what truly matters to them. Finally, we redefine presence, helping them show up in every room as someone who commands respect, not by force but by simply being the man they were meant to be.

This isn’t therapy. It’s not about dwelling on what went wrong. It’s a hands-on, strategic approach that challenges men to own their story and take charge of their next chapter. Reinvention builds a version of yourself that you’re proud of, starting today.

What unique services or programs do you offer?

Our signature offering is the Presence Mastery Method, an eight-week, one-on-one coaching program designed specifically for divorced men over 50. This program helps men rebuild their confidence, earn lasting respect, and show up as unshakable leaders in every area of life. Unlike other programs, it’s highly tailored and focused on results – physically, emotionally, and mentally. We don’t just talk about change; we make it happen.

For men seeking immediate clarity, I also offer a 60-minute Clarity Call. This one-on-one Zoom session dives into their current challenges and creates a clear, actionable roadmap to overcome them. It’s an intensive process designed to provide immediate direction and focus.

Additionally, I’ve created a private Facebook community exclusively for men over 50. This supportive space allows members to connect with like-minded individuals, share progress, and gain accountability and inspiration from others on the same journey.

Each of these offerings is designed to provide the structure, tools, and community divorced men over 50 need to reclaim their confidence, rediscover their purpose, and regain their lives.

Why is this work important, and what is your ultimate goal?

This work is important because too many men over 50 feel invisible, stuck, and disconnected from their own potential after major life transitions like divorce. Society often writes off men at this stage, but I refuse to accept that narrative. These men still have so much to give, build, and become – they just need the tools and support to rise again.

My ultimate goal is to create a movement that redefines what reinvention looks like for divorced men over 50. I want them to see this stage of life not as the end of something but as the beginning of a powerful new chapter. It’s about helping them reclaim their confidence, rediscover their purpose, and become the strongest, most impactful version of themselves. If I can inspire men to take control of their lives and show up for themselves and those they care about, then I’ve achieved what I set out to do.
