Starting a fitness journey can feel overwhelming, to say the least, especially when you’re given complex workout routines, conflicting advice, and trying your hardest not to listen to that little voice in your head that worries about embarrassing yourself by trying to learn something new.

I totally get it. We’ve all been there. The honest truth is so many people feel exactly the same. And if someone else told you they felt this way, chances are you’d be kind to them, maybe even tell them it’s okay and encourage them not to overthink it. Most of us are so busy focusing on ourselves that we rarely notice others around us, whether we’re at the gym, grocery store, or anywhere else in daily life.

Just like any other skill, you probably won’t be perfect from day one. You’ll make mistakes and maybe feel a bit awkward, but after a few short weeks, you’ll start building habits and feel your anxiety ease. You'll gain confidence, feel stronger, and be taking those crucial first steps toward a healthier you.

Quick tips to overcome common challenges you might face

  • Feeling self-conscious? Remember that everyone starts somewhere. Most people at the gym are focused on their own workout, not judging others.

  • Struggling with consistency? Schedule your workouts like any other appointment. Chances are you can find the time if you look at your daily phone screen time.

  • Worried about doing things right? Watch tutorials or work with a coach who can guide you through the proper form and answer your questions.

How to get started?

To see progress you’ll need a few things

1. A calorie deficit

This comes from a healthy, balanced nutrition plan and burning calories through movement! This could be in formal cardio sessions, such as 30 minutes on a spin bike, or throw low intensity activity, such as getting in daily steps.

2. A fitness-focused strength training routine

The best way to get started with strength training is with a simple plan that’s already been thoughtfully prepared by someone more experienced, so you have one less thing to worry about. You can trust their experience, and all you have to do is show up to the gym and follow the plan.

If you think strength training isn’t for you, check out this blog post on why it may be the best thing for you to do for yourself. Following those 2 simple points for a long time (10 years) is how I changed my entire physique.

When you’re new to fitness, consistency matters more than anything else. Instead of intense routines that can leave you overwhelmed and discouraged, or crazy nutrition plans that leave you starving, start small with plans that help you build long-term sustainable habits and build your confidence over time, because success comes from mastering the basics. By focusing on a few fundamental exercises and doing them well, you’ll build a strong foundation without feeling lost or intimidated and see great progress.

This is exactly why we built our online group training program. To take away the anxiety and burden of walking into a gym with no idea of where to start. Our online group training program is a simple, beginner-friendly workout routine that makes it easier than ever to start your fitness back up with new workouts every 6 weeks, cardio and core workouts, and custom nutrition plans, all for less than $30/month.

After years of experience and research, it’s now well known that building your dream body doesn’t happen by doing random exercises. Progress comes when you follow a structured plan in both training and nutrition.

We take the guesswork out of training and give you expertly crafted workouts and nutrition plans.
