Priestess Alissandra Moon is a Spiritual Alchemist, Soul Coach & Mentor for Witches. She has co-authored an international best seller and is a regular guest on Radio, TV and Podcasts. Founder of Raven Moon Academy of Magick, she is on a mission to heal the world.
I previously wrote an article that discussed various types of Witches: ”The Many Forms of Modern Witchcraft, Embracing the Path that Chooses You.” In that article, I briefly touched on a path that we at Raven Moon Academy call Tech-Witchery.
I decided to write this article to take you deeper into the intriguing world of Tech-Witchery because until I started working with my long-term student and now fellow RMA teacher, Dee aka Priestess DeRainbow, it was a world that was quite foreign and even somewhat abhorrent to me. I approached it with an open mind and heart and a whole new world was opened up to me!
This is a true testament to how we all learn from and inspire each other when you are not driven by ego and have an open mind and heart. The student can be the teacher if the teacher will listen. Dee has taught me so much when it comes to technology in both a magickal and mundane sense.
Thanks to her, I now see it in a very different light and truly appreciate the magick of technology. Like a wand or deck of Tarot cards, our devices are tools that can assist us in our magickal endeavors. They have been shunned by magicians for so long and have been banned from coming into the magickal circle. As we evolve as modern-day Witches though, the use of electronics and various technological devices should be considered as ways to enhance our magick and bring it into our daily lives.
To go further on this topic, it is my pleasure to introduce my long-term student, friend and Raven Moon Academy’s Head Trainer in Tech-Witchery, Dee, or Priestess De Rainbow Moon-Tech.
So Dee, how would you describe tech-witchery, as you practice it?
As a Tech-Witch, my practice is a dance between the mystical and the digital, meaning that I weave the threads of ancient wisdom with those of modern technology and harness the power of that tech to enhance my magickal practice. Being the only Tech-Witch, (I or anyone in my community has known) allows me to pioneer new ways of merging these two realms and add my own unique perspective.
In my rituals, you’ll find a blend of crystals and circuits, potions and processors. I might be coding
digital charms, enchanting gadgets, designing fully digital spells on my computer or creating a digital Book of Shadows. It comes down to merging traditional Witchcraft practices with cutting-edge technology to create a unique, powerful synergy.
My altar is adorned with both sacred relics and sleek devices, all working in harmony. I actually have a fly digital altar too.
It’s a life that’s very much about balance and accountability of one’s attitude and behavior towards, and around, technology. I believe that by respecting and understanding the tools we use, we can unlock their full potential.
Ultimately, Tech-Witchery, as I practice it, is about embracing both the mystical and the technological worlds, finding balance, and creating a magickal experience that’s grounded in the here and now while reaching into the realms beyond.
What most excites you about it/what do you most love about being a tech-witch?
Hmm, What excites me most about being a Tech-Witch is the limitless potential and new frontiers. I love the creativity it allows—the ability to take ancient practices and infuse them with modern innovation to create something entirely new and powerful.
One of the most thrilling aspects is the constant discovery and learning. Whether I’m developing new digital tools to enhance my rituals or exploring how technology can deepen my understanding of the energies around us, there’s always something new and exciting to dive into.
I also love the sense of balance it brings to my life. Being a Tech-Witch means being mindful and
intentional about how I interact with technology. It’s not just about using the devices but also about cultivating a respectful, harmonious relationship with them. This balance helps me stay grounded and connected to both the digital and the natural worlds.
Another aspect I cherish is the community. Connecting with fellow Witches and sharing our discoveries, tools, and practices creates a vibrant, supportive network. We inspire and learn from each other, constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.
Ultimately, what I love most is the magick that happens when tradition meets innovation. It’s about creating a space where the ancient and the modern coexist, enhancing each other and opening up new realms of possibility.
Being a Tech-Witch is a journey of endless exploration, creativity, learning, discovery and connection, and that’s what makes it so exciting and fulfilling.
Do you think it is going to become the new “go-to” practice for modern-day witches? Why/why not?
I believe Tech-Witchery has the potential to become a popular practice for modern-day Witches, but whether it becomes the new “go-to” practice, I don't know.
The integration of technology into Witchcraft aligns with the natural evolution of our society. As technology becomes more ingrained in our daily lives, it’s only natural that it will find its way into
spiritual and magickal practices. Tech-Witchery offers a way to ‘modernise’ traditional rituals, making them more relevant to the new generations of practitioners.
However, Witchcraft is deeply personal, and many Witches find profound meaning and connection in traditional practices that have been passed down through generations and perfected over time.
Some desire the whole experience of working with natural elements and traditional tools, as well as knowing that every aspect, ingredient and movement has been planned strategically to maximise the effectiveness and energies. Those things are irreplaceable for many, but I like to find a way to harness those energies digitally.
That said, Tech-Witchery doesn’t have to replace traditional practices—it can complement them. By embracing both the old and the new, Witches can create a richer, more versatile practice. For some, the use of technology can enhance their connection to the mystical, providing new tools for divination, energy work, and ritual creation.
A crucial aspect of Tech-Witchery is maintaining a balance between the digital and real worlds. It’s important to stay grounded and not let technology overshadow the natural and spiritual elements of Witchcraft. By cultivating a mindful relationship with technology, we can ensure it enhances rather than detracts from our practice.
Additionally, as the world becomes more interconnected through technology, Tech-Witchery can help create a global community where practitioners can share knowledge and experiences, fostering a sense of unity and collaboration. Like what we have been building at Raven Moon Academy.
While Tech-Witchery may not become the sole “go-to” practice for all modern-day Witches, it is likely to become an increasingly popular and respected path.
What should people be aware of before diving into tech-witchery?
Before diving into Tech-Witchery, there are several important considerations to keep in mind: (I’ll try to be brief)
1. Balance between digital and natural worlds
As previously mentioned, it’s crucial to maintain a balance between the digital and natural aspects of your practice. While technology can enhance your Witchcraft, it’s important not to let it overshadow the traditional elements. Strive to integrate both harmoniously, using technology as a tool to deepen your connection to the natural and mystical realms.
2. Mindful use of technology
Be aware of your relationship with technology. It’s easy to become overly reliant on digital tools, which can detract from the spiritual and introspective aspects of Witchcraft. Practice mindfulness and set boundaries to ensure technology serves your practice rather than dominating it.
3. Privacy, security & safety of all
When using digital tools and online platforms, be mindful of your own privacy and security, and also protect the integrity and sacredness of the craft. The usual safety precautions come into play here as well as being mindful of what you share online. Some aspects of your practice, particularly those that involve the ‘secrets of the trade’, should remain private to protect both the integrity of the craft and the safety of practitioners. Sharing too much can lead to misuse or unethical exploitation by others. Most people out there are not ready to receive such power.
Be aware that there are individuals who may use technology and magick in unethical ways. By keeping certain practices and knowledge private, you help protect the craft from being misused or misunderstood.
4. Continue learning and be ethical
Familiarize yourself with the technology you plan to use. Having a good understanding of the tools at your disposal will enhance your practice and prevent frustration.
While Tech-Witchery is about innovation, it’s important to respect traditional practices and understand their roots. Integrating technology should be done with reverence for the mysteries, honoring the wisdom and practices that have been handed down through generations.
The field of Tech-Witchery is ever-evolving, with new tools and methods constantly emerging. Be prepared for continuous learning and exploration. Stay curious and open-minded, and don’t hesitate to seek out resources and communities to support your journey. Reflect on the ethical implications of using technology in your practice. Consider the environmental impact of electronic devices, the sourcing of materials, and the overall sustainability of your tech choices. Strive to make responsible decisions that align with your values and remember that we are custodians and caretakers of our beautiful Mother Earth. It is our job to protect her.
By keeping these considerations in mind, you can approach Tech-Witchery with a balanced, informed, and respectful mindset, ensuring a fulfilling and harmonious practice.
Is there anything you want to add for those who resonate with this path?
For those who resonate with the path of Tech-Witchery, I’d like to offer a few additional insights:
Firstly, do your inner work! Soul and Shadow work are non-negotiables for ANY magickal path and in my opinion, should be compulsory in life in general. It is an ongoing process so don't ever think that you have “done your work”. It doesn't end. This ongoing process of self-examination and growth will help you stay true to your path and maintain a balanced, responsible practice.
Technology is a double-edged sword—it can amplify our magic but requires high accountability. Be mindful of how you use technology both in your practice and daily life. Devices can absorb and store energy, so frequent negativity or frustration towards them can lead to issues and affect their performance. Reflect on the ethical implications of your actions and spellwork and be aware of the
potential ripple effects on others. Strive to work with clear, positive intentions and avoid manipulative or harmful practices.
Recognise the profound influence technology has on society and use it thoughtfully. Technology can be a force for connection, education, and empowerment, but it can also perpetuate misinformation and division. Our relationship with our phone is the closest one we have outside of our relationship with ourselves because it's what keeps us connected to the ones we love in the 3D world. So it’s all the more crucial to approach it with care. As a tech-witch, you have the opportunity to be a positive influence in the digital realm. Use your platform to spread knowledge, support ethical practices, and promote a sense of community and understanding.
How can people get started on this path?
Getting started on the path of Tech-Witchery is an exciting journey that blends ancient wisdom with modern technology. Here are some steps to help you begin:

Create a sacred space where you can practice Tech-Witchery. This might include both physical elements like crystals and candles, as well as digital tools.
Familiarise yourself with the digital tools that can enhance your practice. This could include software for creating digital sigils, apps for tracking moon phases, or platforms for virtual rituals. The key is to find tools that resonate with you and enhance your connection to your craft.
