Clearing The Path To Higher Productivity

Last year, I took a walk break to clear my head. I breathed in the fresh air, and enjoyed the trees as spring was in full swing. This spacious feeling was brand new. Since I left New York, I felt displaced after years of upheaval many of us went through. I asked myself, “What is it?”

The answer: “Find your value. Reflect it in a community that appreciates you.” You have value to share with the world. While things change rapidly with technology and information, let’s focus on what’s in our control. Your tried-and-true individual human strengths can help you move forward. There are times that we are challenged to rise above our limits. Is it a time like that for you now? You’re not alone. What’s helped you tackle things in the past? Let’s take away the barriers to increase productivity with 4 keys that improve confidence. Myself and other experienced coaches help clients do this every day.

The spirit key


Your "why" is your Atomic Target. It gives you spirit and a gut drive.

Ask yourself the simple question: WHY is this important to you? Doing something greater is a challenge. Have you ever felt your desire line up with a bigger purpose to you? Asking “why” unlocks passion and endurance. This relates to the limbic center of your brain and a belief in the core of your being. WHY is what moves us to buy into action.

The mind key


Once you get your Atomic Target, your mind can act like a missile seeking it. However, the same way a pilot is required to perform a preflight checklist, we could also have a plan and avoid pitfalls. What are my constraints? How can I think outside the box? Lastly, ask yourself what could go wrong if you take that step? These questions can lead to an action plan that helps you feel secure in your goals.

The emotion key


To get your emotions aligned you’ll need to know, are you living in the GAP or the GAIN? The GAP is like climbing a summit focused only on how-far-you-have-to-go. You’d be entering a zone where it would feel as if there would never be enough resources. The Gain is seeing yourself already at the summit. Observing the beautiful state, honoring each step as progress. Then you can enjoy the quality and quantity of your efforts. Thinking of past successes can help you build your confidence now. Remember an event you won?

The body key


Now let’s back that up with Atomic Habits. Repeat after me, “It’s my birthright to feel optimal in my body.” Peak performance means your brain and body have the materials it needs. Make it simple, focus on one thing at a time, and start by doing the most impactful thing you can. How could you ‘crowd out’ an old habit with a new one that is more rewarding? Remove friction and barriers by making it obvious and easy. Use “habit stacking” such as one of my clients who now drinks water daily as soon as they get out of bed. They “stack” their new habits after something that is already routine. Schedule things that are not urgent but important for more focus on primary tasks. Atomic Habits are ones that keep momentum! We are meant to do the things we love most and use our strengths to make a positive impact in the world. What’s helpful for you to enjoy a schedule with increased productivity?
