What begins as a cryptic message on a mobile phone evolves into a dreamlike birthday adventure filled with luxury, fashion, devotion, and intrigue. This story weaves chance connection with romantic longing, revealing how desire, identity, and illusion can collide in unexpected and unforgettable ways.

Woman with finger on lips signaling silence, embraces man in suit. Dark background, intimate mood. Her nails are light-colored.

Celebrating a Chance WhatsApp Bond

It began mysteriously over my Android’s mobile messaging apps. But we were disrupted by the Dark Web’s missing person of the month and the finding of her body parts, picture-framing views riding in a Rolls Royce along Rodeo Avenue, purchasing a rustic timekeeping piece for “Goldman Sachs’ King of Wall Street”, waiting for his Bitcoin options trading signal, and being briefed on several high-stakes overseas diversions, from casino sugar mammas to a nasty dog-eat-dog family real estate plot happening in the Hong Kong chop shop districts. Searching for the mysterious remains of her late friend, “Abby Choi”.

Valentine messengers for February 2023

My Android phone’s messaging apps connected me with a cryptic plea from “Cindy”.

Asking for her dog walker, she gave me the feeling of being strangely involved. Though mistaken for her referral, she was actually contacting a canine’s friendly neighbor bodyguard. Used coincidentally, her catfishing pseudonym, “Cindy”, refers to a familiar canine naming right I remember, given to a succession of doggone companions. The “First Cindy” was a Pug who passed away and bequeathed it to the “Second Cindy”, a Border Collie. Both breeds belonged to my maternal grandfather, Chef “Bill of Fare”.

Since “Catfishin’ Cindy” loved to cook gourmet meals, she became acquainted with the menu card planning boards of the late Chef “Bill of Fare”. For he was a pun named for his restaurant’s meal fare card and also his given first name, “Willie Lawrence”.

Once upon a time, a Crimson Alabama-colored Southerner operated a luncheon diner doing business as “Birmingham’s Bill of Fare” under the Stars and Bars. With gourmet meals provided to staffers for New York City’s Fashion Week, cooking gourmet food became her topic du jour. Yet she was sort of an unfinished businesswoman. So “Yanmei” may have also enjoyed revealing her three custom dress-making fashion designs, first shown to me.

Though our affair lasted from the latter weeks of February until the first of March, I rolled away like a rack of lamb. Our gentrified gyrations were filled with shopping at the Beverly Hills Mall Rolex Store, “Good Morning” workout selfies, and tagging along with her at Not Just A Label’s Los Angeles office, attending boardroom briefings for New York’s 2023 Fashion Week. Reminded by her label, “Cindy” could not stay regulated as her favorite uncle’s pastime-keeping princess. Her succession made her a Queen!!

Because her celebration was for a special someone, she and I had a “Birthday Adventure” at the Rolex Giftstore Registry.

A store-y to remember

Because of her uncle, “The King”, “Yanmei” sent me her vow as birthday wishes for us to become familiar with each other over coffee, tea, spreadsheets, or cigars. For a more interesting personal note, our future endeavors meant “Yanmei,” and I was scheduled to “MeetUp” with “The King and I”. To my “Golden Valentine” and his watch-bearing “Birthday Queen”. There goes my bride, and here comes me for a grooming.
