I’m committed to personal bliss — to creating perfect moments strung together that contribute to a life that is filled with happiness and joy. It’s easy to get caught up in monotonous routines and then days, weeks, years later wonder why you feel dull and unfulfilled. What’s the point of just going through the motions and not living a satisfying life? You have the power to optimize all areas of your existence and live your dream life now. It starts with awareness, willingness, and consistency.

Here are 3 powerful practices to harness personal bliss:

INITIATE A DIGITAL DETOX — “The global average time spent using social media platforms per day is 142 minutes in 2021,” according to Statista Digital Economy Compass. That’s 2.3 hours behind the screen consuming other people’s stories and agendas every day! If you can relate to this stat, take a moment and bring awareness to the benefit of scrolling the apps. How do you feel during and after significant time spent on social media? When I asked myself this question, I decided to take a break and went on a three-week social media detox. At first, I noticed my system was programmed to jump on the apps at certain transition times (when I woke up, before lunch, on breaks, etc.). It took a couple of days to acknowledge the impulses and choose to breathe instead of grabbing for my device. After the first week, I had more energy and a sense of calm. After two weeks, I felt like someone came in and dusted off my brain! At the end of the third week, there was newfound clarity and order. Side benefits like saving time and avoiding drama and comparison hangovers arose. Give it a try for yourself and with your “experimenters hat,” on take notice of the positive effects an intentional break from social media can have on your life.

Pro Tip: Once you experience the benefits of a digital detox, you’ll want to schedule them in to ensure maximum results. You could take one day off per week, say on Sundays, or a full week off once per quarter.

WRITE YOUR REALITY — Now that you’ve decluttered your mind space, you are primed to create impactful statements that will support your desires. According to Ester and Jerry Hicks in their book The Law of Attraction: The Basics of The Teachings of Abraham, you have the power to manifest anything. One technique is to write out every desire as if it’s already occurred. It’s human nature to focus on what isn’t working. However, it’s important here to stay focused on the positive and what you DO want. My list starts off with, I love my fit body, I’m grateful for consistent $20K months, I have boundless energy and joy, I am a lighthouse that attracts other heart-centered leaders. Yours may include:

  • My partner exceeds my expectations and delights me

  • Every day in every way I’m getting stronger and stronger

  • My words are powerful and the perfect people gravitate towards my message

  • I am grateful for the inspirational legacy that my work has on the world

Conducting a rampage of desires will boomerang your wishes back to you in record time. To begin, silence your phone, get comfy, and tune in to what your heart wants and why. Journaling is an excellent tool to illuminate your inner thoughts. Grab your favorite pen and paper and set aside a couple of minutes. Ask yourself, What do I truly desire? What does a perfect life look and feel like? How do I want to spend my days? What are the top qualities of my perfect partner? What do I want to be known for? Don’t censor yourself — just let it flow. Once you know what you want, recite it daily to reinforce the belief. This is key. Repetition is proven to create new neural pathways in the brain. These connected neurons will fire and wire powerful signals in your system to help you manifest a new reality.

Pro Tip: When reciting your affirmations, add enthusiasm and conviction to anchor in the power statements.

ACTIVATE FORWARD MOMENTUM — You’ve likely heard about the massive benefits of movement. Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hanh says, “When it comes to health and well-being, regular exercise is about as close to a magic potion as you can get.” One of my resolutions in 2021 was embracing a movement practice in the mornings — what a game changer! Increased mood and flexibility were two benefits that I experienced first. As the months went by, I noticed additional shifts like creativity and mental fluidity, a direct result of the empowering dance routines. Committing to consistency is essential. At first, habits may be difficult to implement. However, you’ll notice in time that they have the ability to aid discipline, improve health, and prevent burnout. Remember, your psychological makeup is naturally programmed to repeat what is rewarded. Start small and celebrate each and every micro-action — this will set you up for success. What’s going to work for you? It may be a daily afternoon hike at your local park or vinyasa yoga on YouTube. I guarantee you’ll see improvements in your physical and mental health.

Pro Tip: You can improve your mood in just five minutes per day. Find times to add movement to something that you already do, like when you brush your teeth or wash the dishes.

Now is the time to maximize your contentment. Pick one tip, incorporate it until it’s an easy part of your day, and then move on to another strategy. With practice, you will embody an artist persona, designing each day with the intention to amplify your feel-good feelings. It’s never too late to start and the best part is you can adjust and tweak as you go along. Here’s to living your best life filled with bliss and harmony.
