Watch Kimberly's TEDx Talk here!

Social media usage is constantly on the rise. In fact, Facebook has almost 3 billion users worldwide. So many people use social media - so why is it that social media is also a leading cause of depression and anxiety in many age groups? Well, a lot of content that is posted is not 100% truthful. There are people out there who hide behind their computers to make vicious comments and set unrealistic standards for other users. In this TedX Talk, I’m going to share with you how I decided to reclaim social media and use it for good in my business. I challenged myself and set goals to use these online platforms to make an impact and encourage others to do the same. You will hear me talk about some alarming statistics that social media has brought on to pre-teens and teenagers, but you will also see me shouting out some people on social media who use it to lift others up, express their vulnerability, and show genuinity for themselves and others. The way it SHOULD be!

Kimberly Olson’s most prominent and resounding advice to women learning to build their personal brand from the ground up is to, “Learn. Implement. Take action. That is how you will crush your goals and set your soul on fire.”

Watch Dr. Crum's TEDx Talk here!

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Dr. Crum says the biggest game-changer is “YOU, by harnessing the power of your mind." She explores scientific results that show the influence of the mindset on the body, and how changing the subjective mindset produced different outcomes. Dr. Crum's work is inspired in part by the placebo effect, and has implications that stretch far beyond the realm of medicine.

Dr. Crum is a professor, psychologist, and researcher investigating how mindsets affect health and behavior. Dr. Crum's research focuses on how changes in subjective mindsets—the lenses through which information is perceived, organized, and interpreted—can alter objective reality through behavioral, psychological, and physiological mechanisms. Her work is, in part, inspired by research on the placebo effect, a notable and consistent demonstration of the ability of the mindset to elicit healing properties in the body. She is interested in understanding how mindsets affect important outcomes outside the realm of medicine, in the domains of behavioral health and organizational behavior.
