Sarah Batchelor

Music Educator & Neurodiversity Speaker

Sarah Batchelor is a neurodivergent music educator, speaker, writer, and creator of Neurospicy Music Teacher, with 26 years of experience in music education. Based in Alberta, Canada, she has taught K–6 music and Band from Grades 6–12 throughout her career. Her work is grounded in inclusive practice, universal design, and creating learning environments where students can succeed without being expected to fit one narrow model of learning.

Her professional work explores neurodiversity, accessibility, music education, and the practical realities of creating environments that support different ways of thinking, communicating, and learning. Through the Neurospicy Music Teacher platform, Sarah develops resources, shares ideas from the classroom, and speaks about moving inclusion beyond good intentions and into everyday practice.

Her perspective is shaped by both professional experience and lived experience. She writes and speaks about neurodiversity, education, creativity, parenting, resilience, and the systems people are often expected to navigate without those systems being designed with them in mind.

Sarah was named Airdrie Arts Educator of the Year in 2025. Her work continues to expand beyond the classroom through writing, speaking, professional learning, and public conversations about what meaningful inclusion can look like in real life.
