Michal Cohen
Psychotherapist
Michal Cohen, LCSW, is a psychotherapist, mindfulness teacher, psychedelic guide, and creator whose work is rooted in compassion, curiosity, harm reduction, and the belief that healing begins when we learn to understand ourselves rather than judge ourselves.
A graduate of Columbia University School of Social Work, Michal has more than 20 years of experience in the mental health field. Her therapeutic approach integrates trauma informed care, mindfulness, somatic practices, psychodynamic therapy, Compassionate Inquiry, and nervous system awareness. Deeply influenced by the work of Dr. Gabor Maté and Dr. Carl Hart, she brings a compassionate, nonjudgmental perspective to conversations about trauma, substance use, addiction, and healing.
Michal is passionate about the intersection of psychotherapy, mindfulness, cannabis, psychedelics, and harm reduction. As a psychedelic guide, she supports intentional approaches to altered states of consciousness, emphasizing preparation, self discovery, integration, and bringing insights into everyday life.
She is the cohost of Living the Green, a podcast exploring cannabis through the lenses of mental health, science, spirituality, and conscious use. She is also the creator of Notes to My Nervous System: Everyday Ceremonies, an affirmation and practice card deck designed to help people pause, reconnect with themselves, and bring moments of ceremony into ordinary life.
Based in Hawaiʻi, Michal writes about mental health, trauma, ADHD, nervous system healing, substance use, harm reduction, conscious cannabis, psychedelics, and personal transformation. At the heart of her work is a simple idea: lasting change does not begin with fixing who we are. It begins with understanding ourselves more deeply.
