Founder of MS Consulting Solutions

Michael Smith is an executive coach and the founder of MS Consulting Solutions, a leadership and team development consultancy based in the UK. He coaches executives and senior leaders, and works with their teams to close leadership capability gaps and strengthen client relationships.
 
Michael brings more than 20 years of senior programme delivery experience across some of the UK’s most demanding sectors. His career spans the Royal Engineers, BAE Systems, Network Rail and BT Openreach, where he most recently served as Programme Director for the Reach26 full fibre capital build programme across the North East and Yorkshire. Leading large multidisciplinary teams through national infrastructure delivery taught him that programmes succeed or fail on the quality of their leadership, a conviction that underpins his coaching today.
 
In 2026 he left corporate life to lead MS Consulting Solutions full time. The consultancy focuses on three areas: executive and leadership coaching, closing the leadership capability gap, and commercial team client relationships and retention.
 
Michael works with newly promoted senior leaders stepping into bigger roles, directors leading teams through change, and capable leaders who feel stretched or stuck. His clients gain clearer thinking, greater confidence in difficult conversations and teams that take ownership without constant direction.
 
He is an accredited Insights Discovery Practitioner and is currently completing his ILM Level 7 qualification in executive coaching. His approach is practical and direct, grounded in real delivery experience rather than theory, and built around measurable change in how leaders think, behave and perform.
