Maxine Noel

Founder of LinguaElite

Maxine Noel is the founder of LinguaElite, a UK-registered online school teaching English language, communication and cultural fluency to students across ten countries. The school has grown entirely through referral since 2020 and has never advertised.

Her approach came from two contrasting experiences. Her first online teaching was voluntary, working with refugees through an organisation supporting people affected by conflict. Knowing that the lessons genuinely had to work changed how she understood preparation and attention. Shortly afterwards she taught commercially for an Asian online school and saw the opposite: teachers rotated between students, minimal feedback, and a platform run as a marketplace rather than a school.
 
LinguaElite was built against that model. Every student is matched to the teacher best suited to their goals and level, and teaching adapts to the student rather than requiring the student to fit a fixed curriculum. Cultural fluency is taught alongside language, because most communication failures are cultural rather than linguistic.

Students have gone on to universities across the USA, France, Malaysia and Australia, including the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Sydney. Others have moved abroad for secondary school or been accepted to English-medium international schools in their home countries. School-age students consistently rank among the top ten percent of their year groups, and IELTS candidates typically improve by 1.5 to 3 band points between sittings. The school also works with senior professionals preparing for high-stakes evaluation in English.
 
LinguaElite offers one of the few IELTS preparation programmes designed for native and near-native English speakers, a group routinely told they need no preparation who then score below their ability. Work is underway on communication programmes for internationally educated professionals, including healthcare workers navigating UK workplaces.
 
Maxine holds a BSocSci (Hons) in Psychology and Criminology from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She is also an award-winning documentary photographer and a director of Marist Mercy Care, a South African NGO. She writes on cross-cultural communication and what internationally educated professionals are never taught about the cultures they enter.
