Maryann Taylor
Creative Wellness Facilitator and Founder
Maryann Taylor is a pioneer in expressive arts, uniquely integrating psychology theories into various healing practices. Dedicated to guiding individuals on transformative journeys of soul healing and personal growth, Maryann's passion for the arts began in childhood. She discovered the profound impact of creative expression early on, which laid the foundation for her future endeavors as she recognized the therapeutic potential of creativity in navigating life's mental health challenges.
Maryann's journey into the wellness field was deeply personal. She pursued a Bachelor of Social Work with a Minor in Psychology from Toronto Metropolitan University and continued her professional development with a postgraduate certificate in Expressive Arts from Sir Sandford Fleming College. Her commitment to understanding and utilizing art as a healing tool led her to become a Certified Trauma Integrated Practitioner and a Certified Trauma-Informed Organization professional. She also holds a Grief and Bereavement Certificate from Wilfred Laurier University.
Over her 15-year career in social services, Maryann worked with women, seniors, and individuals with intellectual disabilities. Her compassionate approach and innovative techniques earned her a reputation as a dedicated and empathetic professional. However, her vision extended beyond traditional social work. She sought to create a space where individuals could explore their inner landscapes and achieve personal growth through creative expression.
This vision materialized in Jovial Expressions, a wellness enterprise offering interactive workshops and coaching sessions that blend artistic expression with wellness tools. At Jovial Expressions, Maryann's workshops guide individuals in expressing their emotions, fostering self-discovery, and promoting holistic well-being.
Maryann's work with individuals with Down Syndrome is particularly noteworthy. Inspired by her brother, she authored "Jovial Expressions Creative Workbook: Supporting New Parents Who Have Babies with Down Syndrome," a practical guide with activities, tips, and resources to support families. This workbook and her other publications showcase her commitment to improving the lives of those with intellectual disabilities through creativity and love.
Jovial Expressions-Down syndrome Section is one of Canada's leading creative wellness and leading products for people with Down Syndrome.
Jovial Expressions, founded by Maryann Taylor, is one of Canada's foremost creative wellness organizations.
