Lance Allan Kair

Lance Kair licensed professional counselor and visionary behind Agency Matters Mental Health, he brings a rare fusion of intellectual depth and lived compassion to the evolving field of mental health. With deep roots in Western philosophy, epistemology, and Eastern spirituality, knowledge of psychedelics, and a personal journey through profound loss—including the passing of his daughter to meningitis—his life informs his healing practice in powerful ways.

Beginning his career in inpatient psychiatric care and harm reduction outreach, he developed a warm, trauma-informed approach grounded in existential depth, experiential engagement, cognitive science, and spiritual understanding. As a depth existential counselor, he helps clients explore, recognize, and confront what is actually happening in their experience, through intelligence, feeling, and meaning with honesty and compassion.

He is also a published philosopher whose work explores the intersection of phenomenology, continental philosophy, and mental health. His major works include The Moment of Decisive Significance (a radical re-reading of the Gospels), The Object of the Subject (a three-part series influenced by Zizek’s and postmodern philosopher’s Event theory), and Counseling and Orientation, a foundational text in the epistemology of mental health. His upcoming book, Mental Health Philosophy (due out 2026), aims to provide a practical, verifiable philosophical framework for understanding modern efforts to understand mental health as it is, contextualize and address mental struggles.

He maintains an active presence on Academia.edu and curates the Mental Health Philosophy website, where he publishes essays and dialogues exploring the soul of mental health in the 21st century. Balancing rigorous thought with deep empathy, he is redefining what it means to care—and think—in the therapeutic space.
