Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

Kini Chang is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Oakland, CA. She is the Chair and Associate Professor at California Institute of Integral Studies(CIIS) Masters in Counseling Psychology, Community Mental Health Concentration. Prior to her role at CIIS, she was the Chair/Director and Core Faculty at Holy Names University, Counseling and Forensic Psychology Graduate Program. She is educator, presenter, activist, and healer with guiding principles in her work based in community. Her expertise: trauma associated with systemic oppression, social inequity, community violence, abuse and attachment, juvenile justice, intergenerational and historical trauma, and grief and loss. As an advocate for quality holistic, innovative, and accessible healthcare for all, she is a member of the UCSF Integrative Health and Medicine Committee to integrate holistic and nontraditional forms of wellness and medicine into our healthcare to offer alternatives and culturally accommodating services. In addition to her role at the hospital and university, she has a private practice in Oakland, CA where she practices as an Intergenerational attachment focused EMDR Therapist and focuses her work on decolonization of psychotherapy. She specializes in familial trauma, transitional struggles and life challenges, anxiety and depression, multicultural and racial couple’s therapy, as well parent education and coaching on adolescent development and child rearing.
