Jenny Nechvatal

Early Childhood Consultant and Author

As an early childhood consultant with over 30 years of experience in the sector, I bring a depth of knowledge to my work. My professional journey has been significantly enriched by my personal experiences as a parent of two children living with a disability. I have a firsthand understanding of the unique challenges and triumphs faced by families navigating the healthcare, education, and social systems. This dual perspective offers a valuable lens for educators, enabling them to see the world through the eyes of children and families with disabilities, and fostering greater empathy and inclusivity in their practice.

Throughout my career, I have been actively involved in the early childhood community. I was a member of the Aspiring Leaders Forum and had the opportunity to present at both the Riverina and the national Early Childhood Australia Conference in 2014. In 2023, I contributed a chapter to the publication ‘A Carers' Journey: Stories from the Heart’, sharing insights from my personal and professional experiences.

I have founded two organisations: Innovate Support Coordination, a NDIS-registered provider dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities and their families, and Innovative Disability Solutions, which focuses on delivering workshops for early childhood educators and families. I have also shared my story and expertise on various podcasts, helping to raise awareness and understanding of the realities faced by people living with disabilities and their families.

My aim is to enhance understanding of disability and foster inclusive practices within both educational settings and family life. These workshops are designed to equip educators with practical skills and strategies for creating inclusive environments that support all children and families. Families are provided with valuable insights and tools to navigate their journeys and advocate effectively for their loved ones. Through engaging discussions and practical activities, participants leave with a deeper appreciation of the importance of inclusion, along with actionable steps to implement.

My mission is to empower educators and families to foster nurturing, accepting environments that celebrate diversity. I believe that by working together, we can build a more inclusive early childhood sector, one that values and respects the unique contributions of all children and their families, ensuring that every child thrives.
