Henriette Edvarda Berntsen

Yoga Teacher & Women’s Rights Advocate

Henriette Edvarda Berntsen – Yoga teacher, group training master trainer, and women’s rights advocate

Henriette Edvarda Berntsen is a passionate and warm-hearted yoga teacher well known for her ability to make people feel seen and at home on the mat. Henriette offers classes where elements of flow, freedom and self-compassion are present, and is an Embodied Flow certified teacher.

Henriette would love for you to connect more deeply with yourself through yoga, find your inner truth, and become aware of what truly matters to you — so you can live a free, empowered life you love.
In her classes, you will experience embodiment, somatics, and free movements, as well as more traditional asanas, pranayama, meditation, and contemplation. Henriette knows how important deep rest is for your body and mind to fully integrate your practice and recharge. In her classes, you will always end your practice with a long, nurturing savasana. Little moments of peace and rest in between movements are very often present in her classes as well, as small glimpses of that deeper connection with yourself that Henriette considers so nurturing.

Henriette offers a variety of different yoga classes, ranging from yoga flow and Hatha yoga, to Yin and Restorative yoga. In addition, dancing is something that Henriette keeps close to her heart, and she offers free movement classes to inspiring music where the dancer in you will come alive and your spirit be lifted.

Healing from the Heart
Henriette believes that healing from the heart is the most powerful way to discover and understand the strength of our own healing powers. The heart carries wisdom and an ancient, innate knowledge of our deepest needs and desires that can support us in the most difficult of times. This can be the healing energy we need to overcome trauma and life challenges.

Henriette’s course, Healing from the Heart, is built on these insights, specially designed for highly-sensitive and passionate perfectionists who feel misunderstood, left out, and confused about what really matters in their life. By guiding you into a more profound and honest understanding of yourself, your needs, and what truly matters to you, this course supports deep, genuine healing as a way back to yourself.

The course "Healing from the Heart" guides you into a deeper, more honest understanding of yourself, your needs, and what truly matters to you, so you can live a more free, empowered life.
Being a passionate perfectionist herself — after years of experiencing fatigue, chronic inflammation, and depression, Henriette discovered that healing begins when you reconnect to yourself through your body and let your intuition speak your truth. She has since dedicated her life to helping others connect with their intuition and learn how to listen to its hidden gems of wisdom, so they can clarify what really matters to them and let their intuition become their best friend.

Yoga: A Space for Coming Home to Yourself
Henriette’s yoga classes and workshops invite you to come as you are and move in ways that feel nurturing and supportive. Henriette creates a space where you feel safe and seen as you find freedom in moving both body and mind based on your needs. By guiding you to listen deeply to your body and mind, you move in ways that help you discover meaningful inner experiences.

For Henriette, yoga is a practice that can help us process big emotions, life-changing experiences, and challenging thoughts simply through being. Henriette would love for you to discover yoga as a practice where you get to know yourself as you feel safe and free on your mat. For Henriette, yoga is a beautiful way of coming home to yourself.

Yoga Services at Church: Yoga with a Christian Theme
Henriette is also the founder of the yoga services at Fagerborg Church in Oslo together with the current Oslo Bishop Sunniva Gylver. Over the last decade, Henriette has led yoga services in collaboration with the Bishop and parish priests. Together they continue to explore and develop yoga with Christian themes, creating a holy and meditative space for Oslo Christians to come and enjoy the benefits of yoga.

Master Trainer and Group Training Instructor
In addition to offering yoga classes, Henriette is a highly experienced group training instructor and master trainer. Henriette started working as an instructor at the age of 16, long before becoming a yoga teacher and beginning her healing journey. Ever since, she has loved to create classes that are filled with energy, joy, and a greater sense of mastery through dance classes, core & strength workouts, mobility & stretch classes, and high intensity training sessions with a killer vibe. As a group training specialist, Henriette would love for you to walk out of her classes with your energy renewed and recharged, feeling happier and deeply satisfied with your own efforts.

With more than 30 years of teaching experience, Henriette presents masterclasses at conventions and fitness centers, and is a popular motivator for other instructors by offering guidance in teaching and creating classes.

Henriette is also a master trainer for the Norwegian group training concept “BasisBall”. She has taught a variety of instructor trainings, helping others grasp BasisBall concepts and teach different BasisBall classes. BasisBall often presents master classes at fitness conventions, and Henriette is part of the team that motivates participants to give their very best and inspire new ideas for their own classes as well. BasisBall is a popular training concept at many fitness gyms, and participants describe Henriette’s master classes as fun, energetic and easy to follow.

Women’s Rights: On a Mission to Improve the Way Women Are Treated
Henriette is an advocate of a woman's right to be treated with respect, empathy, and understanding. Ever since Henriette was a young teenager, she has felt a strong urge to ensure that women receive better care with hospitals, doctors and midwives.
An important aspect of this work is to help women give consent and make informed decisions when meeting health care professionals, and while undergoing examinations and treatments during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care. It is crucial to raise awareness of obstetric violence and ensure a woman’s right to give consent before examinations or procedures are performed on her body.

All women should be respected for their choices when receiving health care and selecting how and with whom they prefer to give birth. Henriette is on a mission to help improve the way women are treated and ensure that the care they receive is respectful, dignified, and compassionate.

Henriette has been a board member of the association BirthRightsNorway, and is a clear and strong voice in the public debate regarding the dysfunctional care and disrespectful way many women are treated, which happens far too often during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care.

Female Warriors and C-Section Survivors
An important part of Henriette’s activist work is to improve the way women are met and treated when they need to have a C-section. To Henriette, a woman who has endured a Caesarean birth is a true warrior and witness of one of the most fierce and challenging experiences a woman may face.

The birth of Henriette’s daughter ended in a traumatic emergency C-section. In the postpartum aftermath of that horrific experience, Henriette felt in her own body the importance of proper treatment and care for women after a Caesarean birth. When a woman’s care fails and her rights are disrespected, she can end up feeling that she doesn’t matter and something important got lost on the way. Henriette wants to see this change.
