Devin Bailey-Nicholas, affectionately known as Divine, is the Founder and Executive Director of the grassroots non profit Community Birth Companion, started in 2012 with the goal of lowering infant and maternal mortality rates in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana. She is a graduate of the University of Illinois Urbanana-Champaign, with a BA in English and Afro-American Studies. Divine is also a Certified Lactation Counselor, Maternal-Child Community Health Worker, and Doula Trainer. Currently, she serves as a member of the GOLD Learning Professional Advisory Committee, local Ambassador for the National Perinatal Task Force and Louisiana Perinatal Quality Collaborative Faculty Member. Divine is also a charter member of the Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society Louisiana Chapter. She lives in Opelousas, Louisiana with her husband and five children.
