Cindy Jacobs
Nervous System Logic Practitioner
Cindy Jacobs is the founder and Program Director of Free Rein Australia, developer of the Biological Completion Model™ (BCM), and author of the forthcoming book The Unfinished Response.
Before founding Free Rein Australia, Cindy spent more than 15 years leading large-scale organisational change before moving into executive coaching, equine-assisted learning, counselling and somatic practice. While facilitating leadership programs with horses, she noticed that people often became markedly more authentic and open in the presence of the herd. As the work moved increasingly into personal and trauma-related material, she trained as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, and is a member of the Australian Counselling Association.
Through years of clinical work with thousands of clients, Cindy identified recurring and predictable patterns in how the nervous system organises around threat, protection and unfinished defensive responses. Those observations became the foundation of BCM.
BCM defines trauma as the persistence of an unfinished biological defensive response that continues to organise perception, physiology, behaviour and prediction. Rather than asking only how to reduce or manage symptoms, BCM asks: What is the nervous system still trying to do?
Unlike many trauma therapy approaches, BCM is not an open-ended exploration of what emerges. It follows a defined biological process from accessing the unfinished response, through completion, to restored agency.
BCM now forms the foundation of Cindy’s clinical practice and practitioner training. Through Nervous System Logic, she is developing and teaching the broader body of work around defensive response, prediction, completion and agency. Her vision is to expand access to trauma resolution through skilled BCM practitioners and trainers without diluting the model.
