Mark Andrew Kozlowski didn’t plan to become a finance leader. He started his journey as an engineer. Studying Industrial and Systems Engineering at Georgia Tech, Kozlowski learned how things work—how systems connect, how processes improve, and how to think long-term.
“Engineering taught me to solve problems in a structured way,” he says. “That mindset never left me.”
But Kozlowski’s curiosity wasn’t limited to machines or systems. He wanted to know how businesses grow and adapt. That led him into the world of corporate finance, commercial real estate, and strategic consulting—fields where big ideas meet real-world challenges.

Turning Systems Thinking into Strategy
Learning from the Dot-Com Bust
Early in his career, Kozlowski helped lead a startup through the dot-com era. When the bubble burst, the company struggled.
“It was one of the hardest times,” he says. “But it taught me about resilience. The market won’t wait for you to catch up—you have to stay flexible.”
This experience shaped how he approaches leadership today. At NYSA Capital LLC, where he now serves as managing partner, Kozlowski focuses on forward-thinking strategies. He uses data and predictive tools to help businesses prepare for change, not just react to it.
“Our job isn’t just solving problems,” he says. “It’s seeing them before they happen.”
Serving More Than Clients
Kozlowski is just as committed to people as he is to planning. A major part of his work is supporting minority-owned businesses and disabled veterans—groups that often face barriers in finance and entrepreneurship.
“We don’t just talk about inclusion,” he says. “We build programs around it. We offer mentorship, networks, and tools that people might not have otherwise.”
Through NYSA Capital, Kozlowski has helped create pathways for business owners who need more than capital—they need partnership.
“It’s not enough to hand someone a resource,” he says. “You have to walk alongside them.”
Leading with Structure and Values
Kozlowski doesn’t believe success is just about numbers. For him, structure, trust, and strong values are essential. That’s why he integrates principles like ethical governance and ESG (environmental, social, and governance) into every project.
“Good business can—and should—do good,” he says. “We’ve proven that ESG is not only the right thing to do. It’s a financially smart move when done right.”
One area where this shows up is in real estate. Kozlowski focuses on projects like build-to-rent housing and affordable housing in fast-growing areas like the Sun Belt. These projects don’t just meet investor goals—they meet real community needs.
A Day in the Life of a Problem Solver
Kozlowski starts his day early—before the sun comes up. He begins with reading global financial news and setting priorities.
“I use the quiet time to think clearly,” he says. “That’s when I’m most focused.”
Throughout the day, he blocks time for deep work, meetings, and strategic planning. At the end of each day, he reflects.
“I ask myself what I’ve learned, what I did well, and what I could do better,” he says. “That reflection helps me grow.”
He also believes in the power of face-to-face moments. While he’s open to flexible work, he values the lessons that come from hallway conversations and spontaneous discussions.
“Some of my biggest insights came from informal chats with mentors,” Kozlowski says. “That kind of learning is hard to replace.”
Staying Curious and Thinking Forward
Looking ahead, Kozlowski wants to scale NYSA Capital’s impact and reach. He’s interested in growing the firm’s footprint across global markets while staying rooted in its mission of ethical leadership.
“We want to stay sharp, stay useful, and stay grounded in what matters,” he says.
He also encourages the next generation of business leaders to take risks and stay open.
“I would tell my younger self to embrace failure,” he says. “That’s how you grow.”
One idea he’s been thinking about? A platform that connects retired finance professionals with small businesses for mentorship. “There’s so much wisdom out there,” he says. “We should be using it.”
Bringing Big Ideas to Life
Mark Andrew Kozlowski’s story is one of steady growth, clear purpose, and thoughtful leadership. From engineering school to managing partner, he’s turned big ideas into real results—not just for clients, but for communities.
Whether he’s forecasting financial trends, building support networks, or rethinking housing models, one thing stays the same: Kozlowski believes in structure, strategy, and people.
“Success isn’t just about what you build,” he says. “It’s about the legacy you leave behind.”
