Eldin is a well-known yacht charter broker, arranging private yachts for sailing holidays in all the main sailing destinations, with a specific expertise in long-term yacht charters and luxury yacht charters in particular.

Until very recently, luxury yacht charter was experienced only on superyachts, a few deluxe motor sailors, and a small number of exceptional sailing yachts, usually on 200ft Perini Navi, Oyster 825, and Swan 100’s. However, with the launch of cutting-edge sailing and power catamarans designed to transform sea travel into an opulent, immersive experience, the luxury catamaran charter has become the most popular type of exclusive holiday and luxury yachting adventures. Chartering vessels like the Sunreef 80, Thira 80, Sunreef 100, and the eagerly anticipated Lagoon Eighty 2 means stepping into a world where comfort, space, and personalisation reign supreme.

The Sunreef 80: Redefining modern sailing indulgence
Is this the boat everyone should sail on at least once in a lifetime?
With the Cannes Boat Show just around the corner, it makes sense to write about luxury catamarans this month. And the Sunreef 80 is seen as the best example of a boat that epitomises the luxury catamaran charter market. This specific model combines expansive deck space, avant-garde design, and sustainable features, such as solar panels and electric propulsion, unlike any other catamaran. Despite huge logistical issues surrounding electric propulsion, its benefits, and arguably, reduced environmental impact, the demand for eco models is increasing. Aboard this 24m masterpiece, guests enjoy panoramic saloons, ample flybridges with Jacuzzis, and customisable suites that redefine luxury living at sea. The seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces, coupled with a professional crew and a host of water toys, ensures every journey is as relaxing or adventurous as you desire.
In one of his previous interviews, Sunreef's in-house naval architect, Adam Paruszewski, in fact stated: “The boat is perfectly balanced both under and above the water, offering a smooth sailing experience while remaining a vast, luxurious yacht.” As a result, I view the Sunreef 80 as not only a luxury platform for elegant cruising, but given her transatlantic sailing capabilities, she must also be seen as a serious sailer, capable of safe, comfortable transatlantic passages. That said, she is undoubtedly not a sailing yacht in the traditional sense, given that most crossings between islands are still done under power. Apart from a variety of luxury yachting adventures, at A2A Yachting, we have regular enquiries for such unique, once-in-a-lifetime transatlantic crossings, both West to East and East to West. Given the vast success of the original Sunreef 60 that in early 2000’s, which changed the luxury catamaran charter market forever, it is no wonder that Sunreef 80 leads the way in defining new levels of luxury, before the ultimate experiences on superyachts, mega yachts and giga yachts come into play at prices double or 10x more than the one going rate for a Sunreef 80 of course. The order book of Sunreef 80 Eco and other similar models is pretty booked out, in other words.
Fountain Pajot’s Thira 80: Elegance, freedom, and privacy
Is this new model offering more than any other at this level?
Following the massive success with the immensely popular Alegria 67, FP shipyard has recently launched Thira 80. The Thira 80 stands out for its versatile layouts and sophisticated design, albeit it remains less popular than the Sunreef 80. At nearly 24m, she features a sprawling flybridge, a vast forward deck usually with a Jacuzzi, a couple of retractable balconies, and a main deck emphasising seamless connection with the sea. With options for custom décor and furniture, guests feel at home in private suites designed for both restful nights and on deck, for festive gatherings. This catamaran is especially popular for Greek and East Mediterranean charters, where sailing blends adventure, relaxation, and five-star hospitality. If you are keen to experience the best of Greece, choose a Thira 80. For West Mediterranean yacht charter adventures, the sheer choice of Sunreef 80 models and their starting ports or possible itineraries will allow you to choose from both the best value and the best available options.
Lagoon eighty 2: Innovation and custom comfort
Is this going to be the best ever 80ft+ luxury catamaran charter experience?
Anticipation is high for the Lagoon Eighty 2, a nearly 25m marvel making its official debut in 2025. It combines contemporary design with unmatched flexibility: modular layouts, a 50m² flybridge, and a unique owner’s suite with a private fold-down terrace right on the water. Sustainable construction, solar panels, and a robust sail plan ensure that guests enjoy the best of both worlds: environmental awareness and uncompromising comfort. Lagoon’s program allows extensive customisation to suit every guest, from dedicated workspaces to tailor-made crew arrangements. One of those models is already set to sail in the Greek Islands during the summer and in Egypt’s Red Sea or Saudi Arabia during the winter months. Both of these are up-and-coming sailing destinations, and chartering a new Lagoon Eighty 2 during the winter months around Jeddah or Sharm-El-Sheikh is highly recommended. All three of these immensely popular charter yachts usually ask around 80,000 EUR + for every week of charter, although prices will vary depending on the season and model, and can be up to 20% higher or 10% lower with local VAT and expenses added on top.

Sunreef 100 power: The new supercat revolution
New levels of luxury on the catamaran charter market come next!
In the meantime, the largest catamarans available for charter are not 80ft or even 100ft. These are currently: 1. 46.5 metre Artexplorer by Perini Navi offered from 240,000 Eur per week, 2. 43.5 metre THIS IS IT by Technomar from 350,000 Eur per week 3. 42.2 metre Douce France, a well-known classic, offered from 115,000 EUR/week.
These charter boats have already entered the superyacht domain of luxury and service, and soon a new Sunreef 100 power will be joining them. For those seeking the ultimate in spaciousness and eco-conscious cruising, the Sunreef 100 series, especially the new Eco edition, is expected to deliver. Where previous models of Sunreef 102 and Sunreef 114 failed, with features like an “Ocean Lounge,” fold-down balconies, and invisible garages for toys and tenders, these new 100ft charter yachts are likely to succeed. Sunreef 100 is expected to emphasise both indoor grandeur and outdoor lifestyle at the same time. The all-electric version will offer silent motoring with impressive green technology, allowing for extended cruising with minimal environmental impact. Yacht charter guests and those keen on ultimate sailing adventures can expect a fully customisable interiors, professional galley with Michelin Star level of gourmet food served on deck, panoramic lounges with 360-degree views, and options such as a gym or spa turning every voyage into a floating luxury resort, all from approximately 120,000 Eur/week and likely purchase prices to be well above 10 million Euros. If Sunreef 100 succeeds, will this be the start of a new supercat revolution, with other shipyards joining in the creation of catamarans that can be classed as superyachts or even mega yachts?
