Ms. Kirk, can you share a bit about your journey? What led you to where you are today?

Where do I start? You know, I can look back over my life and see how the lack of mental health resources in my community impacted my life as an adult. I grew up in the city of Los Angeles, California during the 80s crack epidemic and the 90s gang era to parents who were unable to escape the lifestyle that plagued our community. Living in an environment where one is exposed to systemic challenges that factor into diverse traumas at such a young age, these experiences affected my teens as well as my adulthood. From depression to suicidal thoughts and attempts, the lack of resources available in my community made it difficult to seek help. Not to mention the stigmatization behind mental health was also a deterrent to seeking services.

I am not quite sure where my journey to spread awareness began. Somewhere while working towards my master's degree my healing journey began. As I learned to heal others, I was healing myself, thus developing my passion for wanting to help others heal. By the time I got my license to practice psychotherapy, I began to see people for their unresolved hurt and wanted to help others heal. There is a certain kind of peace in your healing that allows you to acknowledge the beauty in life, even during the storm. The ability to navigate and heal from our past traumas and pain is crucial for our overall well-being.

Reflecting on your journey, can you highlight key experiences or milestones that have been particularly influential in shaping your identity and expertise? How have these moments contributed to your growth and development?"

This journey I've embarked on has been a whirlwind of triumphs and setbacks, moments of joy and despair. Each test, every trial, and every disappointment has molded me into the strong, resilient woman I am today. Picture a life where depression, negative thoughts, and feelings of inadequacy waged war on your spirit. Now add the complexities of single parenthood, a full-time job, and the challenge of managing a thriving bartending business, and still struggling financially. That was my truth. But through it all, I remained resolute in my pursuit of healing, for it was my destiny to rise above.

My personal healing journey ignited a burning passion within me to assist others on their healing journey. As a licensed psychotherapist and mental health facilitator, I am wholeheartedly committed to sharing invaluable tools that empower individuals to conquer depression, confront negative thoughts, and heal from childhood trauma. Through this transformative process, you can discover your true purpose and manifest the life you've always aspired to live.
