T. Denise Manning was dubbed as “The Wonder Women Life Coach” bySource Magazine in 2014 & Featured as “The 2018 Wonder Woman of San Joaquin County.” Denise Manning is a game changer in all definitions of the word, leveling the playing field for some of the most at-risk youth in our communities, and applying her talents in various organizations across the region and beyond.
T. Denise Manning imagined a future for herself and refused to stop short of her potential. Learning early that life provides some children with little more than an imagination and a potential, T. Denise has overcome hardship and loss to succeed where failure is the easier path. Raised amid rampant gang violence and poverty in South Stockton, California, she found her way out through inspiration, action and drive. Mrs. Manning’s life and worldview is a shining example of what the human spirit can endure and achieve.
T. Denise Manning first moved beyond expectations by graduating from Edison High School CO/97 with honors when many thought she would never walk the stage. Entering the military allowed her to pursue her education without interruption and to focus on her many intellectual interests. Today, with over thirteen years’ military service in the United States Army, including a tour in combat during (Operation Iraqi Freedom, OIF 09-10), Mrs. Manning holds degrees in Counseling, Criminal Justice Administration, Business Administration, Psychology as well as receiving a PHD from a Seminary school in Theology and Spiritual Counseling. T. Denise made US Army History in 2009 for launching the first recycling program in Baghdad for soldiers and local citizens as well as receiving high honors for her dedication and hard as an Army Mortician during the nations most horrific encounter while in combat in 2009.Denise has also worked with various police departments in fingerprint analysis and crime scene processing as well as violence prevention strategies. Denise was the first HBCU (Historically Black College and University) Life Coach for Florida A&M University and has published three life-coaching books for teens.
Mrs. Manning has served as a Deputy Sheriff Reserve for Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office and has worked diligently for the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice advocating for Youthful Offenders and creating their first Reentry and Mentoring Program in Tallahassee Florida. Denise has dedicated herself to public service with programs for at-risk populations. She has established and facilitated several creative writing and poetry classes for youthful offenders already in the criminal justice system; Ms. Manning implemented the first poetry/creative writing classes in Orlando Florida, Killeen Texas and Stockton CA and has received numerous commendations for Outstanding Distinguished Service and has been highlighted for community service leadership in several print publications, television, the web and from various organizations and universities.
It’s no secret that Mrs. Manning is an overachiever and she holds membership in many prestigious social and civil organizations where she has been recognized as a, Visionary pearl and Charter President. Denise has been recognized twice as a National Top Leader in her sorority, Sigma Gamma Rho. In 2011 Denise was a highlighted Female Veteran for the State of Florida and was an inaugural member of The Status For Women And Girls in Tallahassee Florida in 2012. In 2015, Denise relocated to Stockton CA and joined the Office of Violence Prevention as their first Community Engagement Coordinator. Simultaneously, she also opened her business, “Pretty Lady Boutique.” The boutique provided services for women and housed a Mentoring non-profit for teenage girls. Denise took to local schools & created “Pretty Lady Sisterhood” & became the first in the city and school district to incorporate and implement a mentoring program for high-risk teenage girls. Denise invested into the Stockton Community by serving on the executive boards for the American Legion Karl Ross Chapter, NAACP, Black Chamber, Black Leadership Council, and the San Joaquin County Community action board that overseas the San Joaquin county’s community centers. Denise has made contributions to many Stockton non-profits and was the 2016 Grand Marshall in the Veterans Day Parade, Honored as a Local Hero during the 2016 Rock Stars & Stripes Concert at the historical Bob Hope Theatre. In 2017, Denise was featured as a Leading Lady of San Joaquin county, in 2017; Denise was the Keynote speaker for the annual Power of One Luncheon. In 2018, Denise was recognized as a wonder woman of San Joaquin County in 2018.
Denise left her position at the City of Stockton after being married in 2017 and has since been dedicated to her ministry, her business and nonprofit. Denise is a published Author of four books and a host of articles empowering women and girls. Denise continues her work as a mentor, motivational speaker and active humanitarian, serving all over the United States and in countries such as Africa, Hong Kong, China, Japan, India, and Honduras assisting women in need. In her spare time, Denise serves women as a Certified Birth Doula and Birth Doula Trainer and serves on DONA International health disparities committee, advocating for women of color during labor as well as the state of black infant health. Denise is currently a Mental Health Therapist with her own practice and is also an ordained Spiritual Interfaith Minister. Denise is married and has one son, Despereaux “Rho.”
Charismatic, direct, inspired and POWERFUL, Mrs. T. Denise Manning speaks to the core issues of overcoming hardship and achieving personal success – through courage, tenacity and imagination. Denise truly is our modern day “Wonder Woman.”
