Rosemary Brown

Addiction & Behaviour Change Specialist

Rosemary Brown is an Addiction & Behaviour Change Specialist, published author, and creator of the Family Led Change Model and The Inner Compass Code™. For more than 25 years, she has worked with well over 1,000 people experiencing addiction, alongside many whose lives have been thrown into turmoil simply because they care.

Her work begins with the woman too often left standing alone in the storm—the mother awake at night, the partner carrying fear behind closed doors, the one trying to hold together relationships, wellbeing and a sense of safety that addiction has torn apart. Most of the people Rosemary supports are women over 45 living with the impact of an adult child’s or partner’s addiction. By the time they reach her, they may be the only ones still standing, as addiction has fractured relationships and pushed others away.

This work is deeply personal. As the mother of an only child who experienced addiction, Rosemary knows how completely another person’s struggle can consume the life of the one who loves them. At breaking point, she faced a devastating truth: addiction was killing her far faster than it was killing her child.
That moment became a crossroads. Rosemary could remain drowning in the chaos, or she could begin the journey of getting herself well. She chose the journey.

Rosemary often says she believed she understood what it was like for family members impacted by addiction, that was until she became the mother of someone, she loved deeply whose brain had been hijacked by it. From that lived reality, and from years of listening to those living addiction and those carrying its impact, a better way began to emerge.

Rosemary became a fierce advocate not only for people experiencing addiction, but also for those who care. She knows that care does not equal powerlessness. Yet while the person who cares remains trapped in emotional chaos, their capacity to create change is lost beneath the storm.

Her greatest teachers have been the people themselves—their courage, pain, patterns and capacity for change. From these lessons, Rosemary developed original frameworks including the Mirror Cycle, Windows of Opportunity and Intentional Seeds. Her work translates complex addiction and behaviour-change principles into language that feels human, practical and possible.

As the author of two published books and multiple eBooks, Rosemary challenges labels such as “enabling” and “co-dependency”, offering a different pathway grounded in self-awareness, connection, personal responsibility and meaningful influence.

Her purpose is to give a voice, a language and a way forward to those too often cast aside in their loved one’s addiction story.

Her enduring message is simple: the person who cares is not powerless.
