Reg Goslin
Career Coach
Reg Goslin is a career coach, the founder of Improving Performance personal coaching, and the owner and host of The Career Café podcast. He helps people advance, develop or change their careers in midlife. Often that change has been forced on them by redundancy, or by the quiet realisation that something has to give.
Reg’s own path explains why. He spent a long and distinguished career at BT as a sales leader, managing a team of data network executives. After he left, he took a couple of wrong turns, and it was 18 months before he understood what he had really enjoyed all along. It was not the selling or the management. It was developing people. That discovery led him to qualify as a coach with The Coaching Academy, so that he had professional training to go with his hard-won experience, and the confidence that this was truly his calling. He has been coaching since 2018.
Reg knows what it feels like to stand at a midlife crossroads, and how costly it can be to spend time going in the wrong direction. His clients include senior leaders as well as people rebuilding after redundancy. One client moved into a different C-suite role, even though they had generally been seen as not quite the right fit for it.
His style is calm and supportive. He does not fix people’s problems or tell them what to do. Instead, he trusts the coaching process and helps each client find answers that are genuinely their own. His guiding message is simple: “It’s your story. You write the next page.”
As a Brainz Magazine executive contributor, Reg writes about the issues that keep people in midlife awake at night, drawing on his own experience and his work with clients. His topics include:
ageism
the desire to make a difference
neurodivergence in midlife careers
working for younger managers
recognising that experience is a gift rather than a burden
