Kerry Evetts, M.OT.
Kerry Evetts is a distinguished occupational therapist with over two decades of experience, specialising in sensory integration therapy. Her passion for helping children feel understood and supported has driven her successful career across three continents.
Educational Background:
Kerry completed her Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy at the University of Kwazulu Natal (formerly Durban Westville) in 1997, graduating top of her class. She later earned her Master of Occupational Therapy from the same institution in 2017.
Professional Certifications and Development:
Kerry obtained certification in Ayres Sensory Integration in 2012 and recently completed the conversion to the Evaluation in Ayres Sensory Integration (EASI). She continually pursues postgraduate education in sensory integration and related topics.
Research and Recognition:
In 2018, Kerry published a research paper in the South African Journal of Occupational Therapy and presented her masters research at the World Federation of Occupational Therapy Conference. Her contributions to education through SenseUp Training led to her being named a finalist in the Women Changing the World 2024 awards in the Education category.
Professional Experience:
Since 2008, Kerry has been a private practice clinic owner and full-time clinician. She played a crucial role in opening an autism wing at a mainstream school and was the contributing therapist to The Autism Project in South Africa. Her international experience includes work in South Africa, London, and now Australia.
Entrepreneurial Ventures:
Kerry founded SenseUp, a training business that has experienced remarkable growth over the past two years, reaching over 25,000 children. She developed the SenseUp Model and the SenseUp Approach, which are being trademarked. Through SenseUp, Kerry teaches occupational therapists across Australia and globally about sensory processing theory and practice, enabling them to more effectively serve children with sensory needs.
