Josiah Faison is an award-winning innovator and national speaker, pioneering the field of preservation technology. He is the founder of Oria, a storytelling platform that makes it easy to capture and preserve oral histories across generations. Inspired by a personal loss—the missed opportunity to record his grandmother’s stories—Josiah has committed his work to ensuring others can preserve what matters most.

An African American native of Prince George’s County, Maryland, and Washington, D.C., Josiah brings deep cultural awareness to the forefront of his innovation. Transformative experiences have shaped his journey—from working as a salmon fisherman in Alaska to becoming a finalist for Top Software Idea in New York State (2023).

He has interviewed hundreds of people around the globe and helped preserve stories in over 40 countries, empowering families, elders, and institutions to reclaim their narratives. Libraries, museums, and multigenerational communities are now using Josiah’s work.

He also serves on national technology committees focused on accessibility, AI, and digital equity—advocating for responsible tech that uplifts culture and humanity. Whether building software or speaking on national stages, Josiah bridges the gap between memory and innovation, helping people connect the dots of their lives and leave something lasting behind.
