Jocelyn A. Portales-Soto

Jocelyn A. Portales-Soto is the founder and managing attorney of JPS Law Offices, in the heart of the Burbank Media District, facing Warner Bros. Studios. Jocelyn offers estate planning, trademark law, contract review, and automobile accident services, guiding clients on their brand, assets, and rights through a direct client engagement model.
 
Bilingual in English and Spanish and a first-generation Latina lawyer, she built her practice to close the gap in the traditional law firm model, offering direct 1:1 guidance, flat-rate pricing, honest advice, and individualized, compassionate action plans.
 
Jocelyn earned her Juris Doctor from the University of La Verne College of Law and her B.A. in Political Science, with a concentration in International Relations, from UC San Diego, where she also studied abroad at London South Bank University. She recently earned her MicroMBA from UC San Diego's Rady School of Management, sharpening leadership skills in emotional intelligence, business analytics, and artificial intelligence to serve clients with greater strategic insight.
Before founding JPS Law Offices, Jocelyn spent nearly four years as a Deputy City Attorney, advising city staff and councils on land use, CEQA, contract drafting, code enforcement, and public records matters. She then pivoted to an Affordable Housing Real Estate Attorney role, focusing on real estate, construction contracts, and tax credit financing for public agencies and nonprofit developers.
A UC San Diego alumna, Jocelyn also serves as an Executive Board Member and Vice President of Student Engagement on the UC San Diego Alumni Board of Directors.
 
Above all, she considers her most meaningful role to be a new mother to her ten-month-old son, which has deepened the empathy she brings to every family she helps. She is proud to be the first in her family to achieve this milestone and hopes to inspire others, especially mothers, that anything is possible when you set your mind to it.
