Dr. Jess Johansson

Solution Focused Hypnotherapist

Dr. Jess Johansson (PhD, MSc, BSc) is a qualified and accredited Solution Focused Hypnotherapist (HPD, DSFH), senior academic researcher in stroke and ageing, author, speaker, and founder of Wings of Change Hypnotherapy. She brings together academic rigor and the wisdom of lived experience, balancing neuroscience with soul-led healing.

The loss of her father at 12 years of age led Jess to live in survival mode for many years. Even with a background in psychology, she did not fully appreciate the profound mind–body connection or the hidden ways unresolved grief had shaped her nervous system, until she truly felt and experienced it for herself. Her own healing journey led to Wings of Change Hypnotherapy. She found her wings and now guides others to fly. She loves supporting people who have lost touch with themselves: their identity, needs, and belief in who they are. This can happen through grief, relationship challenges, parenting and caring roles, health conditions, trauma, or the weight of everyday overwhelm. Jess helps clients feel safe, regulated, and able to thrive, not just survive.

Known for her fascination with the brain and her naturally creative mind, Jess uses solution-focused therapy and the wisdom from her journey to promote mind–body healing. She brings empathy, intuition, and a compassionate, uplifting energy to her sessions. Her mission is clear: to show people of any age that change is not only possible—it is closer than they think.

In academia, Jess has received national and international recognition for her work with the public, patients, and carers, and has recently been acknowledged for her skills as an inspirational mentor. You will often find her among creatives in academic spaces, advocating for greater creativity as part of healing and research culture.

A member of the Yorkshire Wellness Collective, she regularly attends and contributes to wellbeing events. She has supported initiatives such as Bingley Women in Business and will be a stallholder at the Business Breakthrough Event (June 2026). Jess wants to embrace more speaking opportunities within therapeutic spaces and loves being around those who dare to dream and inspire others. As someone who values collaboration, you’ll find her in wellness circles—personally and professionally—continually growing, connecting, and creating innovative change.
