Alliance for Breast Implant Education, Nonprofit for Education About the Risks of Breast Implants

Feeling her successful career in health care marketing had somewhat stalled, Jane Rimer thought a breast augmentation might help. Ten years ago, she chose to get breast implants. Although she did research and inquired about their risks, she found none and was assured her implants were safe. Within months, she became critically ill, ultimately bed-ridden and unable to work.

After a complicated surgery to remove her implants and the toxins around them, Ms. Rimer began the long road to recovery. Her experience was so impactful, she committed full time to advocating for the education of women and their communities about the risks of breast implants.

Ms. Rimer’s first love is mentoring women who are considering implants or have Breast Implant Illness (BII). She is also dedicated to educating women and their families, friends, doctors, and other health care providers about breast implant risks, and supports legislative change: health care diagnostic and treatment codes, informed consent, and black box warnings about these devices. Her projects are conducted under her California-based nonprofit, Alliance for Breast Implant Education (ABIE).
