Heather Martin

Certified Lactation Consultant

Heather Martin is a Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and mother of seven with a deep-rooted passion for supporting families on their feeding journeys. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and spent 10 years teaching preschool before fully transitioning into lactation support.

Heather served as a La Leche League Leader from 2006 to 2018, including five years as a Leader Coordinator, helping mentor and guide other leaders. In 2011, she earned her IBCLC certification and founded Beyond the Breast, where she offers compassionate, individualized care.

Taking a holistic approach to feeding challenges, Heather has pursued additional specialized training in tethered oral tissues, gut-brain health, aromatherapy, herbal support, and infant massage. Her work is rooted in a deep respect for the mother-baby relationship, always focusing on addressing root causes and supporting the whole person — physically, emotionally, and relationally.

Whether navigating complex feeding issues or simply needing a little reassurance, Heather brings experience, empathy, and a commitment to nurturing thriving connections between parents and their babies.
When she's not assisting families, she enjoys spending time with her family in their garden, enjoying nature or reading.
