Hazel Katherine Larkin

Speaker, Author, Academic, Trauma Authority

Hazel Katherine Larkin is a mother, author, researcher, writer, actor, and academic. After 12 years in Asia, she returned to Ireland, and to education. At the age of 32, with two children under the age of four, she started her first degree. So far, she has completed a BA (Hons), in Psychology and Sociology; an MA in Sexuality Studies; an LLM in International Human Rights Law, and a PhD. Two years ago, she was diagnosed with ADHD. Both the disorder and the diagnosis have affected her profoundly.

The first volume of Hazel’s memoirs, Gullible Travels, explores the long-term effects of maternal narcissistic abuse; incest, and trafficking. Her second, Body of Evidence, is a series of essays from the body of a woman who was sexually abused as a child. It was published in March of this year.

Hazel designs and facilitates a variety of workshops in the areas of trauma, and child sexual abuse. She also acts as a consultant to a variety of organisations including NGOs, Government Departments, and universities.
