Declan Hunter-Reed
Mental Health & Life Style Coach
Declan has first hand, life experience with substance abuse addiction living with ADHD and being a member of LGBTQIA+ society. For 18 years, Declan was addicted to Cocaine and Methamphetamine, more commonly known as Crystal Meth.
At the age of 16, Declan was a victim of grooming, sexual abuse and sexual assult by a family member. The traumatic events of the first 16 years of his life were a huge factor in his personal development and subsequent 18 year addiction.
Declan was diagnosed with combined type ADHD in March 2024 at 33 years old. Living with this undiagnosed for so many years, meant that Declan's addiction was emphasised because of the impuslivity and hyperatcivity that is associated with his ADHD. He now manages his condition without medication and has factored his ADHD symptoms into his overall recovery and continues to find ways that work for him.
In January 2025, Declan founded Join The Recovery. A foundation aimed at the most vulnerable members of society, to help and support them in their own recovery journey's. Through the foundation, Declan offers private coaching for people who can identify with him and his journey and for people that struggle with their identity and mental health overall.
