Introduce yourself! Please tell us about you and your life, so we can get to know you better.

I enjoy traveling and experiencing different places. I love food and find joy in cooking, especially for the entire family. My husband travels frequently, and I have the privilege of joining him whenever I desire. I am incredibly fortunate and grateful for this opportunity. I have a deep affection for children. Family time is highly valued in our household, and we enjoy engaging in various activities together. This may include camping, dining out, traveling, or simply spending time together. My mother-in-law is someone I can confide in about anything, both the good and the bad. If there's anyone who knows everything about me, it's my husband and my mother-in-law. Coming from a dysfunctional family, having a loving family has always been a desire of mine. I thank God for making this dream come true, as it is something I truly cherish.

Growing up was not easy for me due to experiences of abuse, poverty, and abandonment during my childhood. These factors caused significant anxiety and stress in my life. However, I have learned to overcome these fears and challenges, which has made me courageous, resilient, and responsible for my own life. I am incredibly grateful for the struggles and obstacles I have faced because they have led me to where I am today. They have provided me with opportunities and gifts for a better present and future.

During my "me" time, I enjoy reading books that pique my interest, such as inspiring stories or self-development books. I also prioritize working out three times a week, practicing ten minutes of meditation, and enjoying a cup of coffee before starting my day. I am deeply passionate about learning within my industry and admire well-known life coaches like Jay Shetty and Tony Robbins.

In the year 2022, I had a sense that something was missing in my life. Despite feeling happy, I didn't feel fulfilled. I began searching for new activities or classes, such as yoga and meditation, to explore this feeling. While scrolling through the internet one day, I came across an advertisement for a life coach that caught my attention. The very next day, I made a firm decision to pursue it. However, doubts started to creep in as I realized I didn't have the necessary funds for the class. The "what ifs" and self-sabotaging beliefs started to overwhelm me. Nevertheless, I was determined and had an unwavering intention deep within my soul and spirit. Despite the fear, I took a fearless leap and dived into the opportunity.

And now, here I am... thriving in a life filled with love, positivity, gratitude, and resilience. It is my mission to share these qualities with everyone I encounter on this beautiful journey called life.

Today, helping others overcome their fears and live a purposeful life is not just a passion, but also my purpose. I firmly believe that I can do it, and I have a strong belief that anyone can do it too.

Can you provide a brief overview of your business - Joan Cantu Coaching and the services/products you offer?

I am dedicated to empowering lonely, workaholic millennials who come from dysfunctional families. I do this by equipping them with personalized strategies that cater to their individual needs, helping them effectively manage stress and anxiety. My ultimate goal is to enable them to live their best lives.

I firmly believe in embracing the present moment and making the most of what we have and what we've been given is through this mindset that we can truly live our best lives, regardless of our circumstances. Understanding their struggles and the importance of addressing their needs. By providing guidance and support, empowering them to break free from the patterns that may have held them back in the past and create a fulfilling and meaningful life.

What is the main goal or purpose of your business? How does it contribute to your overall business objectives?

Vision: Is to empower individuals to empower themselves.

Mission: To uplift and support those who have experienced brokenness and help them realize that they are not owned by their past.

The main objective of this business is to create a positive impact on one person's life, knowing that this transformation will have a ripple effect on others. By empowering individuals, I aim to strengthen not only their personal lives but also their relationships with family, friends, and the wider community.

What sets your business apart from competitors? What is your unique selling proposition?

It’s me, Joan Cantu and I have my own unique story. Embracing my individuality and personal experiences is a powerful aspect of my identity and journey. My story is valuable and has the potential to inspire and impact others. I embrace my story and the person I have become, knowing that it is a significant part of who I am.

How do you keep the content of your business relevant and up-to-date? Can you tell me about any recent updates or changes?

The love of exploration, learning about my industry, and discovering new techniques and practices drives me. I have taken two classes this year: Positive Intelligence and NLP. These courses have provided me with different perspectives and skills that have greatly helped me see things from various angles.

As a new coach, I understand that there will be changes along the way.

Tell us about a pivotal moment in your life that brought you to where you are today.

I have lived in California for 7 years. I got married and then got divorced. After that experience, I made a promise to myself that I would never get married again. However, eight years later, a young man insisted on having dinner with me, even after lying about his age. He said, "I think I deserve one last dinner with you before I go back to Michigan." His unwavering intention affected me. Initially, I was hesitant, thinking to myself, "This guy told me he was 27, but I soon found out he is only 24." However, my brain also told me to just go, thinking it's just dinner, maybe it's his way of apologizing.

The fear of being judged because I am with a man almost eight years younger than me started to creep in. However, I reminded myself that this is my life, my business, and my responsibility. I decided to get dressed and go fearlessly. Now, after six years together, we are married with a loving family that I had prayed for. This story serves as a reminder that sometimes taking risks and following our hearts can lead to incredible outcomes. The fear of judgment from others is something many people experience, especially when it comes to unconventional relationships or age differences.

Overall, I strive to live a fulfilling and meaningful life. I believe in the power of positivity and gratitude, and I try to incorporate these values into my daily routine. I am constantly learning and growing, and I am excited to see what the future holds for me.
