Having a visionary mindset will help you inspire people and create a ripple effect of positive change in the world. Imagine what would be different if you could see beyond your current limitations and instead see a world full of possibilities. A world where every challenge or circumstance can be turned into a gift.

Through the eyes of a visionary, challenges become opportunities, obstacles become creative solutions, and limitations become possibilities. A visionary finds the balance between dreaming big and getting things done. Here are 6 characteristics of a visionary and why you need to develop them to help you build a solid foundation for your business and to create positive change in the world.

6 Characteristics of a Visionary

1. Adaptability is a powerful visionary trait. A visionary encourages her team to take risks, think outside the box, learn, adapt, and pivot. Failure isn’t a reason to quit, it’s proof of pushing boundaries and trying new things. She views life as a series of experiments. If something doesn’t work out, she learns from it and moves on with the next experiment. She has a growth mindset and believes she can learn new skills and discover new ways to achieve her goals. If she doesn’t know something, she doesn't get discouraged, she embraces the opportunity to learn something new. Her adaptability builds resilience, helps her achieve goals faster, and moves her towards her big visionary plans.

2. Emotional Intelligence is the trait that connects her to her team and clients. She is deeply connected to a broad spectrum of emotional states and embodies emotions without judgment. She may consider herself an empath as she can easily relate to other people’s feelings and situations.

Guided by her inner wisdom and visualization practices, she imagines how something will unfold before she invests too much energy and time on a potential project. She isn’t afraid to feel her emotions and can tap into the messages she receives from them, using them as a tool to help her evaluate tough decisions.

3. Innovation is one of the strongest traits of a visionary. She doesn’t get stuck in old stories of “this is how we’ve always done it.” She’s a changemaker and naturally questions the system which allows her to eliminate outdated thinking patterns. She’s guided to find better outcomes for her company, which also supports a new worldview. She sees possibilities in challenging situations and instead of roadblocks she sees opportunities to make changes. She’s creative and playfully discovers new ways of solving problems.

4. Inspiration comes easily to a visionary because she is always excited about new ideas. She motivates her team with her enthusiasm and encourages them to explore their own ideas, knowing that this will create even more possibilities and foster connection. As a naturally optimistic, hopeful dreamer, she believes the actions of visionary thinkers can collectively heal the planet. She feels that many of the problems of the world are caused by separateness and that by coming together and finding commonality, we can heal as a collective.

5. Purposefully driven, a visionary often takes time to imagine the bigger purpose of her actions, to get perspective, and become more intentional with her time and energy. She is deeply compassionate and uses her integrity and her heart to drive her decisions and fuel her purposeful business. A visionary has big plans to make the world a better place. Her purpose goes beyond profit. She believes she can make a difference and regularly assesses new ways to make the world more beautiful, connected, and supportive for everyone.

6. Resourcefulness is one of the superpowers of a visionary thinker. As an open-minded person, she is naturally inclusive and thrives on creating opportunities for collaboration. As a connector, she masterfully creates teams that work well together and complement each other’s strengths and weaknesses.

She has a voracious appetite for learning and dives into research to reach her lofty visionary goals. If she can’t find a solution on her own, she is open to receiving information from a wide range of resources that might seem unconventional to some.

Why You Need To Develop Visionary Traits Now

If you don’t naturally have visionary traits, I believe you can develop them. When you see the world through visionary eyes you will also see improvements in your growth as an entrepreneur and as a person. Developing visionary traits will help you make a positive impact on the world. If you dream about being a part of a movement to create positive change in the world, then you need to master the Visionary Mindset now. A visionary sees possibilities that other people might miss. When some people see two choices, she sees hundreds of options. She’s creative and has the ability to inspire people to be excited about a more optimistic future.
