Have you read or heard somewhere the phrase “your heart knows”?

You will probably be surprised to know that actually our heart is a kind of brain capable of transmitting waves of energy around. Science has been investigating the heart for a long time, in fact, the famous Heartmath Institute, with branches all over the world, says that connecting with our heart brings a positive impact to our lives and the lives of those sharing the space with us.

There is undoubtedly a link between the brain and the heart, even though the world we are part of gives more importance to the brain, to the intellect as the driving force in the decision-making process.

However, I invite you to think carefully and remember the times you made transcendental choices in your life, did you acknowledge your feelings and emotions at that moment? You probably did, something in your “heart” was sending you a warning message or you experienced a sweet feeling which was telling you that your decision was the right one.

And how many times you chose to ignore your heart feelings and intuition and made a decision that later turned out to be the wrong one? We have all experienced this and yet we still think that our heart doesn’t matter.

Here are some facts about the heart that I encourage you to take into account:

  • The heart sends information to the brain, it possess its own nervous system

  • The heart and the brain communicate continuously

  • The heart generates energy, which creates an electromagnetic area. This energy surrounds our body completely and it expands itself to about 1 meter outside of us

  • The heart and the brain emit and receive data and when acting in conjunction we activate what it is known as “heart coherence”

  • Heart coherence improves emotional states, enhances concentration and memory, gives us clarity and helps us to access intuition

  • One person activating heart coherence can affect others and the environment.

Knowing this information, it only makes sense to pay attention to our heart and its relationship with our brain and with our own spiritual wellbeing.

There are different ways we can activate our heart qualities, for example, meditation and other breathing exercises. However, I will leave you with a short and powerful exercise you can practice any time you feel you are in need of calmness and clarity.

Heart Inspiration Guided Meditation©

  1. Sit down, close your eyes and relax your body

  2. Start breathing in and out a bit slower than usual

  3. Place a hand in your heart area and feel your heart palpitating

  4. Visualise your heart as a heart of light

  5. Every time you inhale and exhale your heart of light gets bigger

  6. Your heart of light covers you and everything around you

  7. Feel love and inspiration coming from your heart

  8. Stay doing this for a few minutes and then open your eyes.

  9. Now I invite you to write down your reflections and what you felt when doing this exercise. Keeping a journal is an excellent healing tool too.

Imagine what the world could become if we were more in tune with our hearts, peace would be a reality and love would prevail for sure.

I want to make clear that I created this guided meditation a few years before knowing any information about the Heartmath Institute. I think that intuitively we all know that our heart plays a fundamental role in our collective consciousness.

Note: In 2020 I became an Add Heart Facilitator through a Heartmath Institute course and this year I am studying to become a full Heartmath Coach.
