Witnessing firsthand the transformative power of exercise, both physically and mentally, inspired me to pursue a career where I could share this passion with others and help them unlock their full potential.


What does a typical day look like for you as a fitness instructor?


Ross Eldridge: My days are dynamic and filled with energy! I usually start with some personal workout time to kickstart my day. Then, it's off to the gym or studio, where I lead various classes tailored to different fitness levels and goals. I often meet with clients in between classes for personal training sessions, discussing their progress, adjusting their plans, and offering guidance and motivation. Throughout the day, I'm constantly engaging with people, whether it's demonstrating exercises, providing feedback, or simply offering words of encouragement.


What are some common misconceptions people have about fitness?


Ross Eldridge: One prevalent misconception is that fitness is solely about aesthetics or achieving a certain body type for the beach. In reality, fitness encompasses so much more—it's about improving overall health, strength, endurance, and mental well-being. Another misconception is that you have to spend hours in the gym to see results. In truth, with the right approach and consistency, even short, focused workouts can yield significant benefits.


What do you enjoy most about being a fitness instructor?


Ross Eldridge: The most rewarding aspect of being a fitness instructor is witnessing the positive impact I can have on people's lives. Whether it's helping someone reach their weight loss goals, overcome physical limitations, or simply boosting their confidence and mood, seeing my clients progress and thrive is incredibly fulfilling. Additionally, I love the sense of community and camaraderie that comes with being part of a fitness studio or gym—it's like having an extended family that shares a common passion for health and wellness.

Ross Eldridge: My advice would be to start small and focus on consistency rather than intensity. It's also important to find activities that you enjoy and that align with your interests and lifestyle—whether it's dancing, hiking, or weightlifting, there's something out there for everyone. What are your thoughts on the relationship between fitness and overall well-being?


Ross Eldridge: I firmly believe that fitness and overall well-being are deeply interconnected. Regular exercise has been shown to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression while improving mood, cognitive function, and sleep quality.
