So, you want to follow your passion and you want to help others. The most logical next step is to get certified as a life coach, right? In some ways yes, and in other ways no. The thing to ask yourself is what’s the core reason behind getting a life coaching certification. For many, the answer is that you don’t know any other way of starting your online career as a coach. For others, it may be because of a need to be qualified and to have credentials behind what you’re doing. Whether you identify with one or the other or both, the thing to consider within yourself is are you using a life coaching certification as a crutch to get to where you want to go?

Here's what’s going to happen once you finish your life coaching certification: you’re going to go out into the world and into social media and announce that you got your life coaching certification and you’re ready to coach people. And then you’ll soon find that the pathway to building a consistent and sufficient income for yourself to support your basic needs becomes a long, arduous journey.

In search of more support, you find yourself on a discovery call for a marketing program so you can learn how to market and sell your services. Then, you shell out several more thousand to learn their marketing strategies. You implement them and bring your new offer out into the world, and you still don’t see the results in your business.

So then, you go in search of another coach and another coach and another, and before you know it, you’ve spent nearly $30,000 on different business coaching programs so you can learn the right strategy that works.

But the difference here in whether or not a strategy works in your business is you - your authenticity, your passion, and your vision. There are many marketing strategies out there that feel inauthentic, but you don’t know any better and you assume that this is the way marketing and sales need to be done, so you go out into the world and execute those strategies. Then you’re left feeling inauthentic, salesy, and sleazy. When you bring that energy to your business, prospective clients can feel that, and they go running in the other direction.

When you’re creating offers in your business from a program that taught you how to pick a niche and create a program that solves that niche’s problem, you’re creating a program that sounds nice and it’s something that you can do, but it isn’t your ultimate passion. So, when you offer that program out into the world, people can feel that lack of heart-centered passion when you’re speaking about your offer, and they don’t buy because they don’t feel that spark and inspiration within themselves.

When you don’t have a clear vision for yourself and your business, you’re creating offers that “make sense” but aren’t in alignment with your true calling.

So, what’s the solution? Get in touch with your true calling first before spending thousands upon thousands on business coaching and marketing programs that won’t work for you. When you’re in touch with your true calling, you bring that passion and fire in your heart to everything you do in your business. People can feel that, and they want what you have. They feel drawn to you and will buy whatever you put out there.

You lead people from a place of passion and inspiration, and that energy is infectious. People feel drawn to you, and they want to be in your energy. When you’re connected to your true calling, your unique angle, offer positioning and strategy come to you through intuition and inspiration because you’re in touch with the deepest parts of yourself and you can clearly feel what lights you up and is aligned with who you are. You wouldn’t even consider salesy and sleazy strategies because you only do what feels aligned to your authenticity. People can feel your authenticity, and they buy.

“So, how do I connect to my true calling?” you might ask. The answer is simple. You have to become the version of you who is already connected to your true calling. You have to shed the limiting beliefs that have been keeping you disconnected from your true calling, and once you do, you become a new person who has clear intuition and inspiration because you’ve shed all that was blocking you from having that clarity in the first place. In that space of clear intuition and inspiration, your true calling becomes obvious and clear to you. And when it comes to you, you feel that passion and fire in your heart. It’s impossible to miss, and it’s so obvious and clear.

So, the way to achieve a successful coaching career is not about certification or learning the right marketing strategies or offer positioning - it’s about connecting to your true calling and building your business on a foundation of heart-centered passion that is in alignment with your heart’s deepest desires. All of the rest falls into place once you have that foundation to build upon. And how do you connect to your true calling? You have to grow and evolve into the person who is connected to your true calling. You have to clear what’s been creating that disconnection and confusion. You have to shift into the version of you who has that direct line of communication with their intuition and inspiration. You have to become a new you. Your true calling is waiting for you.
