Are you trying to recover from an accident, injury, or surgery, or simply trying to raise your mood but need an additional boost to connect with your authentic self? Try tuning into your imagination. Conscious imagination is a complementary method to attaining health and wellness.

I like to imagine that at the core of humanity, each of us comes from Sacred Energy Life Force (SELF). We can draw from this strong self during times of duress. Imagining that your sacred self is connected to healing energy can be an effective complementary approach that, when used in conjunction with conventional treatments or medicine, can boost your overall health. "Reiki," a Japanese word translated as "Universal Life Force Energy," is a therapy that uses the hands as a conductor and draws from the same "Sacred Energy Life Force." When a person feels low on energy, stressed, worried or anxious, and these feelings are not addressed, the energy can eventually stagnate in the body and potentially manifest into physical ailments. A Reiki practitioner or master uses their hands as an energy conduit to balance and harmonizes the client's energetic field. Like martial artists and tai chi practitioners move energy, a Reiki Master moves energy for the client to soothe them back to balance and relaxation.

Use Your Imagination to Ease Your Aches and Pains.

Interestingly, my sister has been attuned to the Reiki Master level from the direct lineage of Mikao Usui. As mentioned in Going Back to Zen, she began to feel the energy from the palm of her hands in 1998 and was told to look into Reiki, a Japanese healing art. Since then, she has utilized this energy to soothe patients after recovering from accidents, injuries, and surgery. Also, her guided meditation audio soothes the aching pain from my knees ten minutes into listening: (Shhh. Don't tell her. This was not something I expected. Before listening, I assumed I would hate to hear my sister's voice and wouldn’t reap any benefit. I was definitely wrong! This is the miracle of having no expectations. I merely listened to the audio to edit it, but I came away with amazing results!)

Use Your Imagination to Reprogram Your Sabotaging Thoughts Into Healthy Thoughts.

When we experience any dread or anxiousness, it might mean our thoughts have run awry. We can make an energy shift and change that. Panic attacks can hold us hostage. On a physical level, we might feel a rapid heartbeat, brain fog, difficulty breathing, dizziness, trembling, sudden chills, or a sensation of pins and needles in fingers and toes. One moment, we're living day-to-day, and the next, we find ourselves paralyzed with a debilitating feeling, worried about the possibility of being out of control. It can come on so quickly and unexpectedly that it causes confusion, even terror. It can be normal to want to go home and hide. Watch out for sabotaging thoughts programmed into us as children.

Use Your Imagination for Your Benefit.

Let's compliment ourselves for trying our best and for investigating potential answers. Slowly inhale and relax your mind. Imagine you are safe. Imagine being planted on solid ground. Use the mantra, "Slow down. I am completely safe." While nervousness may leave us feeling the need to hide (or as though it controls every aspect of life), it does not have to. With proper attention to its root cause, we can prevent the damage caused by stinking thinking! Self-care and empathetic talk are effective natural remedies–especially when combined. A happy, healthy life is once again within our reach. Sometimes all we need to do is imagine it first!

Use Your Imagination to Prevent a Potential Stress Attack.

While fear and dread can be caused by a number of things -they are typically triggered by exaggerated thinking. The main culprit is usually paying too much attention to other people's business or comparing ourselves with others. This comparison causes hurtful and harmful feelings. Since stress plays a huge factor in our day-to-day lives, we do not realize how profoundly we are affected until we are triggered by something, and we find ourselves struck with a panic attack, afraid of something (or absolutely everything) that may come our way. Yes, all humans are equally imperfect and equally fallible, but we can also imagine that each and every one is a vital member of an all-important collective. We might not agree with each other, but believing that we're all members of the "sacred energy life force" or "universal life force energy" can be the remedy needed to help others connect with their authenticity while at the same time reclaiming yours. Taking a moment to imagine relief can be crucial to prevent a potential stress attack. When we are able to control smaller areas of stress, we are able to stop full-blown emotional turmoil before they start.

Use Your Imagination to Get the Benefits You Want. It’s Free and Readily Accessible.

When you use your imagination, you are better able to enter into a deep state of relaxation and give back to yourself. This type of meditation gives you an opportunity to open up and listen to your personal script within the subconscious and is often used to deprogram stuck childhood training, the ability to pinpoint specific troubling areas, resulting in stress relief and recovery. Your body follows the directions of your thoughts and senses. The subconscious interprets imagination as reality. Similar to the way we salivate when we imagine ourselves sucking on a lemon slice, regular sessions can bring forth unexpected surprises and enhance the life flow of healing energy.

To recover from an accident, injury, or surgery, or simply raise your mood, tune into your imagination. It is a simple method, and as a result, you'll find that you are better connected with your authentic self during the most stressful times.
