During my low days, I often wonder what I could use more of to get me going.

At first, I tend to look outside myself: do I need a coffee, a walk, a nap, a body makeover, or 10 million dollars?

The funny thing is, the more I long for something to come and save me, the more that satisfaction and thriving in the moment elude me. This is frustration at its worst.

Eventually, I wake up to what I already know. I have the answers! I came here with everything I will ever need inside of me to figure this out.

The trick to finding the energy to take a step, launch my dreams, and feel great while doing it is to employ the human spirit.

We all have an animus or spirit that drives us to move forward. It is always there, waiting for us to call upon it. It’s like a dog that waits patiently for us to take it for a walk.

The key to unlocking this force within us is to recognize and communicate with it. Our spirit wants to be seen, acknowledged, accepted, and loved for what it is, or more importantly, who it is. Just like us. Wait. It is us!

How do you love your children, your pet, or your partner? Maybe you could apply that to yourself?

If you asked, I bet your human spirit would tell you that it cares about meaning, purpose, joy, and fulfillment.

These are the animating energies behind who we are and what creates the foundation for everything we’ll do in our lives. These energies stir ideas, thinking, and action, whether we are conscious of it or not.

They also create the force that slows us down when we are no longer on purpose and have lost meaning. Watch for and play with this – you’ll see it’s true.

When we forget to employ this important operating system, we find our life straying from our compass point, and we devolve literally, into chaos. This is the source of our greatest dissatisfaction with life.

Maybe it is time to ask yourself if your work, relationships, and lifestyle are fuelling your purpose or joy? The funny thing is you already know. You have a feeling or a knowing that something is off. And that may be why you are reading this article.

Now what? What can you do to solve the issue? Ask yourself these four questions in the quiet moments you will create in the days to come:

1. What does my most joyous, exciting, fulfilling, and successful life look like?

You may have no idea what this is, at first, but as you openly welcome thoughts about your amazing life, you’ll find they meekly enter or land with an explosion. Entertain whatever comes and be willing to engage with all of it. This is your soul sorting what makes sense for you. Be okay with the change of ideas – sometimes hourly or daily. Imagine a child suddenly being given free rein to create whatever she or he wants. It will be a frenzy of activity. Or possibly, you have known all along, and the pieces fall into place easily? Entertain yourself!

2. What details can I fill in with my senses?

What are you seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, and touching? By engaging your imagination with all senses of the body, you are filling in all the colours and textures. You are fuelling the excitement that has the true potential to fulfill your wildest dreams or something that elevates what you already have. Sight is often our strongest sense, so maybe begin with that. Look out of your eyes ‒where are you standing? Who are you with? What are you wearing? What is the scenery? What is going on? Allow the circumstances of your vision to unfold naturally with no pushing. What wants to come in and play?

3. How do I feel when I walk in my dream?

This is the quality that brings the vision into real life. Do you feel nourished and whole being the person living these circumstances? Are you feeling adored and cherished in your relationships? Do exhilaration and excitement accompany your adventures, or is there a quiet but sensual feel to what is happening? Allow your heart to feel into your movie and to guide you towards what makes you feel incredibly, viscerally alive! You deserve this and more. Never doubt that.

4. How do I release self-doubt and skepticism about this process from my thinking?

The truth is you don’t have to. Allow those emotions to flood in, be with them until they fade, and choose to return to your creation. Your commitment to envisioning is what makes it happen. You have a choice as to whether you focus on what you don’t want, or what you do want. You have a choice to think about positive influences and ideas in your life, or what is negative and heavy. With every focus session, you are affecting the neuroplasticity of your brain, and re-designing your nervous system. Do not allow yourself to be pulled off your purpose with uncertainty and suspicion. You were born to create – now create!

There is no timetable for completion, no deadline, and certainly no judgment around how fast things happen or what comes in for you to test. Sometimes things happen quickly – timing is everything.

Often, because we live in a dense, material world, there is the time between our envisioning and when things appear to be happening. Let it all happen. Live your life, become aware of your surroundings, watch for synchronicities, and get excited for the manifestation of your dreams in whatever way they are to unfold for you.

I am as excited for you to live your dream life as you are! Let’s create together.
